Francis Ngannou reveals “heartbreak” at Israel Adesanya’s loss at UFC Seattle

MMA legend Francis Ngannou has opened up on his friend Israel Adesanya’s defeat to Joe Pyfer at UFC Seattle.

There comes a time in every career when you need to assess what your future looks like in mixed martial arts, and it certainly feels like that time is coming for Israel Adesanya. After such a dominant rise up through the ranks of the UFC, Stylebender lost yet another fight via finish over the weekend, this time at the hands of Joe Pyfer.

Adesanya has been able to overcome adversity in fights and get the win before, but this time around, he just had no answers for the overall power and physicality that was coming back his way from Pyfer.

In a recent post on social media, Francis Ngannou weighed in on what went down for Adesanya on the west coast.

Ngannou looks back at Adesanya’s loss at UFC Seattle

“Watching Izzy fight last night, I was heartbroken,” Ngannou said on his Instagram story (h/t Red Corner MMA). “It reminds you how ungrateful this sport is. Sometimes it’s good to you. Sometimes, no matter what you do, it lets you down.

“Izzy looked sharp; he looked very sharp. After the first round, I’m like, ‘Oh we got this. This is good. He’s back.’ But, man, sometimes we plan, but God has other plans, and I can only imagine how tough it is to come back out of it and rebound.”
