Listen, I don’t wanna sh*t on his deal that he’s going on and I hope that he makes a lot of money. I hope the event is very successful for them. But I wish it wasn’t happening, I don’t think Chuck Liddell should be fighting. That’s why I begged him to retire 10 years ago.
I hope it’s very lucrative for him and he does well.”
The MMA world was caught off guard by the initial news that MMA legend and former UFC light heavyweight king Chuck Liddell was making his comeback. He now has the date for his fight set and so now we just wait.
On November 24, one of MMA’s all-time greatest rivalries will be renewed when Liddell will square off with his fellow former UFC champion Tito Ortiz for the third and presumably final time.
The legends will headline the very first Golden Boy Promotions MMA event which is run by boxing icon, Oscar De La Hoya.
For Liddell, the fight will be his first in eight years since UFC 115 when he suffered his third knockout loss in a row at the hands of Rich Franklin. Originally, that fight was supposed to be between Liddell and Ortiz but Ortiz suffered an injury in the middle of The Ultimate Fighter season 11 which they were coaching.
‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ has fought nine times since then having gone 4-5 with most of his success coming in Bellator. His last fight came as recently as January 2017 against Chael Sonnen when he won via first-round submission.
