Understandably so, the MMA community went wild reacting to the news of the promotions sale. In the wake of the news, UFC founder Rorion Gracie spoke to MMAFighting to give his thoughts on the UFC’s sale:

UFC President Dana White will no longer have his good friend and partner Lorenzo Fertitta by his side while working on anything UFC for much longer. With WME | IMG’s $4 billion purchase of the UFC from Zuffa, Fertitta will be stepping down as CEO and White will continue working as the UFC President and says that he was just given a much bigger workload with Lorenzo out of the picture.

When the UFC announced late Wednesday that UFC interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was pulled from the UFC 200 main event fight versus champion Daniel Cormier, people were stunned by the news. With the fight being just days away from the monumental pay-per-view card, Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt was moved to the main event of the evening.

With just days to go until his UFC 200 headlining bout against Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones was notified of a potential anti-doping violation, and was subsequently pulled from the fight. UFC President Dana white was quick to reveal that the fight was off, and Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt was now the main event for the historic card. Despite that however, Daniel Cormier stated that he would be willing to go up to 225 pounds for a short-notice fight.

UFC 199 was undoubtably an incredible night of fights. On the main card, Dan Henderson mounted an incredible comeback and knocked out Hector Lombard in the 2nd round with a vicious elbow. In the main event, Michael Bisping knocked out Luke Rockhold on just 2 weeks notice to claim the UFC middleweight championship. Following the event, there was much talk of a potential Bisping vs. Henderson rematch for the middleweight championship, with Bisping hoping to avenge his UFC 100 loss. While Henderson is not a top ranked middleweight, and is just 2-3 in his last 5 fights, the fight has received quite a bit of attention from fans.

This past weekend, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and Rory MacDonald squared off in a highly anticipated matchup of welterweight contenders for a title shot against the winner of Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley. The fight, which went the full 5 rounds, was an extremely technical matchup between two of the best strikers in the welterweight division. Ultimately, Thompson’s precision and ability to stuff takedowns earned him the victory.
