Cynthia Calvillo nearly fell off the scale while attempting to weigh-in for her UFC Argentina fight with Poliana Botelho.

The 31-year-old, Calvillo, missed the strawweight non-title fight limit by two pounds weighing in at 118.

Watching Calvillo attempt to weigh-in for UFC Argentina could politely be described as an uncomfortable sight. With that said, her coach Justin Buckholz says they have moved on from the incident and are zoned in on the fight.

“We’re past it all now and we’re just focused on the fight,” Buchholz told Jim Edwards of MMANYTT. “Once we got off the (UFC Argentina) scale I’ve been keeping her zoned in.”

“She had a brutal cut because she got her period.” Buckholz explained. “She work up at 118-pounds, 2-pounds over. We cut from 5:30 am to 9:00 am with Lockhart and Leith. We used baths, saunas, a rubber suit, treadmill, bike, but still nothing was coming off.”

“She is tougher than me I’ll tell you that,” Buckhold said of Calvillo. “She just couldn’t sweat. I’ve been doing this for 10-years at the highest level. It wasn’t through a lack of effort or not being disciplined. Last Saturday she was just 10-pounds over at 126, that’s lower than when she fought four times in that year. We seriously did everything possible. That’s all I can ask. She did it all like a savage.”

Because she missed weight for tonight’s UFC Argentina event, Cynthia Calvillo will be forced to give up 20% of her purse. The money will find a home with her UFC Argentina opponent Poliana Botelho.

UFC Argentina is headlined by a welterweight fight featuring Santiago Ponzinibbio taking on Neil Magny.

In the co-main event of the evening featherweight standouts Ricardo Lamas and Darren Elkins will battle in hopes of moving up the 145-pound ranks.

Will Cynthia Calvillo be fully recovered by the time she fights Poliana Botelho at UFC Argentina?
