Yet during a weekend visit to Chicago, Conor McGregor dropped the news that he is currently in negotiations for his next fight. He didn’t specify the opponent for this next outing, but confirmed that it’s being targeted for July — most likely for the UFC’s famous International Fight Week, which usually includes the biggest fight card of the year.

According to a report from the Associated Press, which has been confirmed by MMA Fighting, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor is now being sued by Ahmed Abdirzak, the man who’s cell phone he allegedly smashed in Miami on Monday. Abdirzak is seeking more than $15,000 in damages, accusing Conor McGregor of battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Ahmed Abdirzak, the alleged victim who claimed Conor McGregor stole and broke his cellphone isn’t getting any sympathy from another former UFC champion. The former UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping chimed in on his Believe You Me podcast regarding the incident and feels the fight fan is blowing things out of proportion. “Look at Kanye West outside LAX,” Bisping said. “Kanye West grabbed someone’s camera and smashed it up. He never got arrested, though. So this guy’s – I’ll just say this guy’s a bit of a f—king dick, to press charges. He’s a very, very recognizable famous person. And by the way, I’m not jumping to his defense, (I’m) just being real. He has to deal with this shit on a daily basis, it must drive him up the f—king wall. And who knows?

Earlier this week, Conor McGregor was arrested in Miami after allegedly smashing a fan’s phone. The UFC star was briefly jailed, but released after posting bond. TMZ has now acquired video of this incident. The clip is undeniably short, but it indeed seems to show McGregor stomping on a phone, and the purported victim pleading to get his phone back amid a swarm of security. See it below:

Earlier this week, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor arrested and briefly jailed after breaking the cellphone of a man in Miami. Mahamad Abdirzak, the father of McGregor’s alleged victim, says this is precisely the kind of behaviour he expects from the Irish MMA superstar — which is why he supports McGregor’s rival Khabib Nurmagomedov. “What McGregor did is exactly in his character,” Mahamad Abdirzak told the Daily Mail. “He’s an angry man. I’m not a fan of his at all. I prefer Khabib (Nurmagomedov). He’s the fighter I like to watch, not McGregor.”
