With talks of a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match currently dominating headlines in both the MMA community and the boxing community, everyone wants a piece of the action! To kick off 2017, Mayweather made McGregor an offer to fight for $15 million. UFC President Dana White was quick to make an appearance on ‘The Herd’, where he made Mayweather a formal offer of $25 million to fight, explaining that the pair could discuss how the PPV sales would be split. Mayweather was quick to respond, calling White a “comedian” for what he believed to be a low-ball offer.

Following the event, McGregor announced that he would need to take several months off from fighting due to the upcoming birth of his firstborn child in May. In the meantime, the UFC has officially announced that lightweight #1 contender Khabib Nurmagomedov would be fighting Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight championship at UFC 209 on March 4th.

The fight had been in the works for quite some time after UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor revealed following his UFC 205 win over Eddie Alvarez that he would be taking some time off from fighting due to the upcoming birth of his firstborn child. While both Nurmagomedov and Ferguson appeared to be on-board for an interim lightweight title scrap, Ferguson then backtracked, demanding that the UFC give him the same money Nurmagomedov would be getting.
