On August 26, UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor will step into the boxing ring with undefeated boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. Originally, the pair were expected to battle in 10 oz. gloves, though a recent offer from Mayweather indicated that that could change. Mayweather made his offer on social media, assuring that he was ok with wearing smaller, 8 oz. gloves, which would be much closer to the 4 oz. gloves to which McGregor has grown accustomed as an MMA fighter.

With less than a month to go until the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather superfight set to take place on August 26th, things have taken a rather unexpected turn in the form of details that need to be ironed out. During the first stop of the Mayweather vs. McGregor world tour recently in Los Angeles, Conor McGregor stated that Mayweather was putting restrictions on the rules for eligible gloves for the fight.

Jon Jones was able to get back the UFC light heavyweight championship title from Daniel Cormier on Saturday night, serving “DC” the first KO loss of his MMA career. Jones is the only man who has been able to fight Cormier in a professional mixed martial arts bout and come out the winner. Cormier went into the UFC 214 fight against Jones as the defending champion and earned the highest reported salary from the event with a guaranteed purse of $1 million. Jones’ reported salary from UFC 214 was $500,000. However, Malki Kawa who manages Jon Jones claims that the reported incomes don’t tell the full stories as far as earnings go.

On August 26th, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will step into the Octagon for a highly anticipated showdown with undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather for what is being called the ‘Fight of the Century’. Ahead of the fight, Conor McGregor has boldly predicted that he will throw shots that Mayweather has never seen before from various disciplines, which will be coming from all angles. While many questioned what McGregor meant, he performed the Capoeira ginga, leaving many to wonder what kind of techniques he could potentially use during the fight.

In 26 days, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will step into the boxing ring for the first time. His opponent in this professional debut will not be another green fighter, however, it will be undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. While McGregor is a tremendously talented mixed martial artist, he’s not being given much chance in this boxing match with Mayweather. The majority of fans and pundits seem to be leaning toward a dominant Mayweather win. That said, there are some notable members of the community who do foresee some success for McGregor, such as former UFC heavyweight Brendan  Schaub. Schaub weighed in on the fight in a recent interview on The Kicker and even went so far as to bet a “dick pic” on McGregor’s success.

Paulie Malignaggi has a new found respect for UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor after getting some time in the gym with the Irish superstar. Malignaggi was brought into McGregor’s camp for sparring and the former boxing champion also got to see “The Notorious” and his work ethic in the gym, which Malignaggi says changed his outlook on him.

Rogan’s name was brought up to be a part of the broadcasting crew for the Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor fight. Unfortunately, Rogan had already committed to other obligations on the August 26 date of the fight.

Several weeks ago, news surfaced that Conor McGregor had extended an offer to former boxing champion Paul Malignaggi to join Team McGregor as the UFC lightweight champ prepared for his historic boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. Malignaggi ultimately did end up joining Conor McGregor‘s camp, as a photo of the pair sparring broke the news to the combat sports community on social media. Immediately of course, questions regarding McGregor’s training began to emerge, as Malignaggi revealed that his policy is to not discuss what takes place in the gym behind closed doors.

Recently, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor made headlines ahead of his highly anticipated showdown with Floyd Mayweather on August 26th when footage of the champ sporting a throwback Golden State Warriors jersey surfaced on the internet. In the footage McGregor can be seen wearing and old-school style #23 Warriors jersey, which was once worn by NBA veteran Jason Richardson. Richardson played in the NBA from 2001-2015, and racked up two NBA dunk contest wins during his professional career. Given Richardson’s renowned status in the NBA, it didn’t seem that unlikely that McGregor was sporting his jersey, despite the champ admittedly not being much of a basketball fan.

Ahead of the fight, fans have expressed concern with the possibility of judges being biased in regards to their judging for the fight given that Mayweather is a boxer, and McGregor is of course a UFC fighter.

Mike Tyson has stated that McGregor is going to get “killed” against Mayweather in the boxing ring. Boxing analyst Max Kellerman went as far as to say that “The Notorious” won’t land a single punch on Mayweather during the course of their mega-money match.

Boxing legend Mike Tyson is not giving current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor a snowballs chance in hell of beating Floyd Mayweather in next month’s boxing match in Las Vegas. In a recent interview with the “Pardon My Take” podcast, Tyson stated that that the Irish MMA star is “going to get killed” when he squares off with the undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in Sin City.

There are those who believe wholeheartedly that Mayweather will be too much for the inexperienced Irishman in the boxing ring, and others that are confident that McGregor can defy the odds and prove his doubters wrong once again. For the most part, interactions between these two factions of fight fans have been pretty civil, limited to social media debates and the like. Some fans, however, are getting a little bit too heated in the buildup to this massive showdown.
