Floyd Mayweather fires back at Conor McGregor after training invitation is rejected

By Tom Taylor - August 29, 2018

Just when it looked like Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor’s beef was in the past, it seems to have heated back up.

Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor

Over the weekend, Mayweather actually made some complimentary remarks about McGregor, and event invited the Irish star to come train at Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas ahead of his UFC 229 lightweight title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“I don’t really have a prediction [for UFC 229] because I’ve never seen the guy fight that’s facing Conor McGregor—from what I know he’s a hell of a guy that’s on the ground—hell of a grappler—and he can wrestle,” Mayweather told TMZ of Conor McGregor’s fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. “But, the fans want to see you stand up and fight. That’s what the fans like to see. But, Conor McGregor, he’s a tough competitor, like I said before Conor McGregor’s not gonna back down from anyone, he’s not scared, he’s a warrior.”

“I know that UFC got a training facility but we’d like for him to work out at the Mayweather Boxing Club.”

While it looked like Mayweather was extending the olive branch, however, McGregor didn’t accept it. He shut the undefeated boxer’s offer down on Twitter.

“Fuck the Mayweathers, except Senior and Roger,” McGregor said on Twitter on Tuesday night. “There is no peace here kid. Step up or step down.”

Now, Mayweather has fired back. As you probably expected, he doesn’t seem to have taken kindly to his offer being rejected.

“Easiest 9 figures I ever made,” Mayweather said in response to Conor McGregor on Instagram. “All work is what?”

Needless to say, it doesn’t seem like Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor’s beef is going anywhere.
