Conor McGregor shares new motivation for UFC comeback as Dana White continues to stall fight announcement

UFC superstar Conor McGregor is fired up ahead of his planned Octagon comeback, potentially set for as soon as this summer.
It’s been almost five full years since former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor injured his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. After back-to-back losses to Poirier in 2021, McGregor’s repeatedly teased comeback attempts have fallen short as he quickly approaches age 40.
Despite the long layoff, McGregor is back in the gym in hopes of securing a UFC comeback fight for this summer, potentially for the promotion’s signature International Fight Week event in July. Several big names could be in the mix to fight McGregor in the superstar’s return to the cage.
But UFC CEO Dana White recently lacked optimism in securing McGregor’s comeback fight, and has remained relatively mute on plans to book him for his planned return. Despite White’s reluctance to provide details on the UFC’s plans for McGregor, the former two-division champion shared what’s motivating him in this latest chapter of his fighting career.
Conor McGregor plans to get back ‘his money’ in long-awaited UFC comeback
In a recent post to X, McGregor made a strong statement as he continues to wait for news on his planned UFC comeback.
“I’m coming back to do what I do. Knock people out for my money,” McGregor said.
One potential fit for McGregor’s comeback opponent is Max Holloway, who recently lost the BMF title to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326 by unanimous decision. Holloway and McGregor fought earlier in their careers at featherweight, with McGregor earning a decisive victory.
McGregor was supposed to return to the Octagon against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 before withdrawing due to a foot injury. Chandler will return on the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 card, likely eliminating him as a potential McGregor opponent.
In the meantime, McGregor appears serious about returning to the Octagon, and the wait continues surrounding the UFC’s upcoming International Fight Week plans.
