Cody Garbrandt breaks silence after second knockout loss to TJ Dillashaw

By Tom Taylor - August 5, 2018

Last night, in the main event of the action-packed UFC 227 card, former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt attempted to reclaim the title from the main he lost it to, TJ Dillashaw. Unfortunately for Garbrandt and his legions of fans, this fight did not go as planned, as he was put down by a Dillashaw punch and finished with volley of followup strikes in the first frame.

With this outcome, Garbrandt is now 0-2 opposite the current champion, with both of those losses coming by way of knockout. To say he’s in a tough spot would be an understatement.

All that being said, Garbrandt seems to be in a good place mentally. Post-fight, the former champion took to Instagram where he issued a short statement, assuring he still feels “blessed” in spite of his latest loss.

“I am blessed,” Cody Garbrandt said in his short but sweet Instagram post. “Thank you all for the love and support.”

TJ Dillashaw also took to Instagram post fight, where he issued a brief statement on his second win over Garbrandt, and looked to the future.

“Thank you to all the fans for your support,” Dillashaw said in his post-fight Instagram post. “Really means a lot to me for everyone watching at home and everyone who came to LA . This wouldn’t have been as special without my fans. I also want to give a special thanks to my team, family, and friends in my circle. Can’t wait for the next challenge.”

Where do you think the former UFC bantamweight king Cody Garbrandt goes from here? Do you think he can earn another bantamweight title shot, or should he consider dropping to flyweight?
