BMF champion Charles Oliveira returned to the gym to a chorus of cheers from his team in Sao Paulo, Brazil, following UFC 326.

Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira moved one step closer to earning another shot at his former belt by earning another championship title. Earlier this month, Oliveira dethroned Max Holloway to win the BMF belt by unanimous decision at UFC 326.

It was a dominant performance by Oliveira, who shut down Holloway’s offense from the get-go and smothered the BMF titleholder with his elite grappling. While it didn’t deliver on lofty pre-fight expectations, the fight was a showcase of how valuable Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu still is in today’s Mixed Martial Arts landscape.

Family and loyalty are two important values to Oliveira during his legendary UFC career. He trains at Chute Boxe Academy in São Paulo amongst some of the top talents in combat sports, including welterweight contender Ian Machado Garry.

Less than two weeks after his title win, Oliveira returned to Chute Boxe to a hero’s welcome that went viral on social media.

Oliveira has bounced back nicely since a brutal knockout loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 317 last year. Before his victory over Holloway, Oliveira submitted Mateusz Gamrot in his UFC Sao Paulo homecoming last year.

The 36-year-old Oliveira could potentially face a marquee name like Conor McGregor or Arman Tsarukyan for his next fight. Oliveira lost by a razor-thin margin to Tsarukyan in their first showdown at UFC 300.

In the meantime, Oliveira is celebrating his latest UFC accomplishment after adding another belt to his historic resume.
