UFC President Dana White and former ONE and Bellator champ Ben Askren haven’t always had the best relationship. In fact, they’ve seem to outright loathe each other at various points in the past. Now that Ben Askren is firmly embedded as a member of the UFC welterweight top-15, however, Dana White seems to be changing his tune.

Ben Askren has yet to have his next fight booked but he does have an ideal scenario in mind. This past weekend at UFC London, the 34-year-old spoke to the media about a number of topics including the creation of a 165-pound division. The former ONE and Bellator champion has been campaigning this new weight class since he signed with the UFC in October. He believes current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is the perfect opponent.

In the wake of Till’s knockout loss to Masvidal, Ben Askren has been forced to reassess the options for his next fight.

Undefeated UFC welterweight Ben Askren jumped on a plane to London with plans of arranging a future fight with event headliner Darren Till. The rivals did have a slight encounter the day of UFC London weigh-ins, but it appears that an actual fight inside of the octagon will have to wait.

He’s also bound to be watching the UFC London co-main event, which pits welterweight contenders Gunnar Nelson and Leon Edwards against each other, as a bout with either man is very possible for him down the road. In a video posted to the UFC Europe Twitter account, Ben Askren made a prediction for Jorge Masvidal vs. Darren Till and Leon Edwards vs. Gunnar Nelson at UFC London.

This sounds like these gentlemen got a bad case of ‘Askrenitis.’ “They realize, ‘Sh*t! Ben Askren is gonna be on the ground in London in about 12 hours?’ They’re getting ready to puff up their chests and say a bunch of cuss words and act real tough. Cause that’s what they gotta do in public to maintain their image. But now they’re just makin’ these excuses for why they don’t have to say yes when somebody calls their name Saturday night.

Ben Askren finally has a UFC win on his resume — unfortunately it came with a side order of controversy. The win, which occurred at UFC 235, came when he locked up a bulldog choke on Robbie Lawler. For a moment, it looked like the choke had lulled Lawler unconcious. The instant replay, however, revealed that Lawler seemed to be wide awake, and still capable of fighting. Whatever the case, Ben Askren seems to have moved on, and is now focusing on his next challenge in the UFC’s Octagon. While nothing is official just yet, it sounds like Askren’s next challenge will pit him against the winner of this weekend’s Jorge Masvidal vs. Darren Till fight.

Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov have had plenty to say about each other on social media over the last few years. Ben Askren continues to wreak havoc both inside and outside of the octagon, with his latest target being newly-crowned UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. “Funky” made his highly anticipated octagon debut earlier this month at UFC 235, where he scored a controversial submission victory over former division title holder Robbie Lawler.

Ben Askren made his highly anticipated octagon debut at last weekend’s UFC 235 event in Las Vegas against Robbie Lawler. In the early moments of the fight, Lawler slammed Askren to the canvas and began raining down brutal ground and pound. Somehow, Askren survived and got back up to his feet where he eventually got ahold of Lawler’s back. There, he latched on to a bulldog choke which caused Herb Dean to jump in and stop the fight.  It was a controversial stoppage which many fight fans and analysts believe was a bad stoppage.

He snagged that elusive accomplishment at UFC 235 last weekend, when he submitted former UFC champ Robbie Lawler. Unfortunately, Askren’s impressive victory over Lawler came with a side order of controversy. While it initially looked as though the choke that sealed the deal lulled Lawler to sleep, the replay revealed Lawler might not have been out at all — and there was no tap.

Ben Askren is now firmly embedded as a member of the UFC welterweight roster, having submitted Robbie Lawler at UFC 235. Unfortunately, his relationship with UFC President Dana White apparently remains strained. Speaking on The MMA Hour on Monday, Askren explained that he still feels quite a bit of disdain from the UFC boss. In fact, he feels White is “repulsed” by him.

Ben Askren made his highly anticipated UFC debut on Saturday night against Robbie Lawler. He beat Lawler by submission — although in controversial fashion. Following his fight, Askren planned to walk out and corner his teammate Tyron Woodley in his title fight with Kamaru Usman. The UFC initially approved of Askren serving as a cornerman. However, after his fight, the UFC wouldn’t allow it.
