As luck would have it, they’re both currently in London, as Till is set to battle Jorge Masvidal in the UFC London main event, and Askren is on the ground as a guest fighter.

Jorge Masvidal: Ben Askren is 'a weasel and a coward' for accepting Robbie Lawler win

Tom Taylor - March 13, 2019

Ben Askren finally has a UFC win on his resume — unfortunately it came with a side order of controversy. The win, which occurred at UFC 235, came when he locked up a bulldog choke on Robbie Lawler. For a moment, it looked like the choke had lulled Lawler unconcious. The instant replay, however, revealed that Lawler seemed to be wide awake, and still capable of fighting. Whatever the case, Ben Askren seems to have moved on, and is now focusing on his next challenge in the UFC’s Octagon. While nothing is official just yet, it sounds like Askren’s next challenge will pit him against the winner of this weekend’s Jorge Masvidal vs. Darren Till fight.

This afternoon, it was announced that Conor McGregor training partner Dillon Danis will return to the Bellator cage at Bellator 221 to take on Max Humphrey. This news prompted UFC welterweight star Ben Askren to absolutely cook Danis in a multi-part Twitter roast. See everything Ben Askren had to say about Dillon Danis below:

This weekend, in the main event of the stacked UFC London card on ESPN+, Jorge Masvidal and Darren Till will collide in a crucial welterweight contender fight. It’s looking increasingly likely that the winner of this fight will then be pitted against former ONE and Bellator champ Ben Askren. Askren, no stranger to trash talk, has been laying the foundation for this potential matchup over the last few weeks. On Monday, he continued to do so, taking a shot at both Till and Masvidal in an incendiary Tweet.

Chris Taylor - March 9, 2019

Ben Askren continues to wreak havoc both inside and outside of the octagon, with his latest target being newly-crowned UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. “Funky” made his highly anticipated octagon debut earlier this month at UFC 235, where he scored a controversial submission victory over former division title holder Robbie Lawler.

Ben Askren made his highly anticipated octagon debut at last weekend’s UFC 235 event in Las Vegas against Robbie Lawler. In the early moments of the fight, Lawler slammed Askren to the canvas and began raining down brutal ground and pound. Somehow, Askren survived and got back up to his feet where he eventually got ahold of Lawler’s back. There, he latched on to a bulldog choke which caused Herb Dean to jump in and stop the fight.  It was a controversial stoppage which many fight fans and analysts believe was a bad stoppage.

Ben Askren claims Dana White has ignored requests for sit-down

Ben Askren is now firmly embedded as a member of the UFC welterweight roster, having submitted Robbie Lawler at UFC 235. Unfortunately, his relationship with UFC President Dana White apparently remains strained. Speaking on The MMA Hour on Monday, Askren explained that he still feels quite a bit of disdain from the UFC boss. In fact, he feels White is “repulsed” by him.

Ben Askren won't fight for UFC welterweight strap without speaking to Tyron Woodley first

Tom Taylor - March 5, 2019

The first shot at new UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman is expected to go to his arch rival Colby Covington. That being said, after an ugly altercation with Covington, Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz is pushing for a fight with new UFC star Ben Askren instead. Ben Askren, of course, has his eyes on UFC gold. Yet he says he won’t accept a title fight with Kamaru Usman until he’s spoken with the former champion, his good friend and training partner Tyron Woodley.

Ben Askren made his highly anticipated UFC debut on Saturday night against Robbie Lawler. He beat Lawler by submission — although in controversial fashion. Following his fight, Askren planned to walk out and corner his teammate Tyron Woodley in his title fight with Kamaru Usman. The UFC initially approved of Askren serving as a cornerman. However, after his fight, the UFC wouldn’t allow it.

Fresh off a defeat of Robbie Lawler in UFC debut, Ben Askren is already looking ahead to his next fight. The former ONE and Bellator champ has got his crosshairs locked on the winner of the UFC London main event, which will pit Jorge Masvidal against Darren Till. In fact, he even plans to be in attendance for the fight to set up a showdown with the victor. From the looks of it, Ben Askren is expecting that victor to be Darren Till.

Ben Askren gives harsh assessment of Kamaru Usman's UFC 235 title win

Tom Taylor - March 3, 2019

On Saturday night, in the middle bout of the UFC 235 main card, former Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight titleholder Ben Askren made a successful UFC debut, weathering an early storm to submit Robbie Lawler late in the first round. Shortly thereafter UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, Askren’s friend and teammate, had a much more difficult night. In a minor upset, Woodley was soundly walloped by his challenger Kamaru Usman for five, lopsided rounds, ultimately surrendering the welterweight strap as a result. Usman’s victory understandably impressed a massive portion of the MMA community — but that does not include Ben Askren.

UFC 235, which went down on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada, was a huge night for the welterweight division. First, we saw former ONE and Bellator champ Ben Askren make a successful — if controversial — UFC debut by submitting former UFC champ Robbie Lawler. Then, we saw Kamaru Usman shock the world by dominating long-time UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman to a lopsided unanimous decision triumph. While Ben Askren and Kamaru Usman impressed many onlookers with their UFC 235 performances, notoriously outspoken Bellator star Dillon Danis didn’t seem to like what he saw. In fact, he believes he’d defeat both fighters based on their performances in Vegas.

The card featured two title fights, as Jon Jones sought to defend his light heavyweight title against Anthony Smith and Tyron Woodley put his welterweight title on the line against Kamaru Usman. Additionally, Ben Askren finally made his long-awaited UFC debut, taking on former UFC champ Robbie Lawler. In the end, Jones beat Smith by unanimous decision, while Usman dominated Woodley to hear ‘And New.’ Askren also locked up a controversial submission over Lawler to get his first UFC win.

Ben Askren was victorious in his UFC debut. Unfortunately, his win was shadowed in controversy. After being slammed on his head and pulverized by an early salvo of Lawler ground-and-pound, Askren was able to turn the tide, and drag his foe to the mat. Once on the canvas, he locked up a bulldog choke that seemed to turn the lights out on the former UFC welterweight champion.

UFC 235 | Dana White reacts to debut of Ben Askren

Tom Taylor - March 3, 2019

On Saturday night, on the main card of UFC 235 in Las Vegas, Nevada, former ONE Championship and Bellator welterweight king Ben Askren finally made his UFC debut. The undefeated wrestler was matched up with former UFC welterweight champ Robbie Lawler — and the fight nearly ended in disaster for him. Seconds into the first round, Askren shot in for a takedown. Lawler denied this attempt, hoisted Askren into the air, and whacked him back down to the canvas like he was trying to get a glob of peanut butter off a spoon.
