The whole card is getting tested. Everyone is getting tested.” “Obviously, doing away with performance-enhancing drugs not only helps us run our business, but it also helps the fighters. If you can make sure you take a hard enough stance and you can keep these young, talented kids off these drugs, their careers are going to last longer. Once all the kids realize there is a level playing field, you have these guys paranoid, ‘I know this guy is using, I know he is, I have to fight this guy and he’s on it, so maybe I should do it too’ once we can eliminate all that it’s going to make the sport a lot better for everybody, them and us.” The UFC’s stance on PED’s just got a bit more stringent.

Renan Barao will look to make his next title defense against TJ Dillashaw at UFC 173 on May 24, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The UFC continues to promote the event and yesterday we got a look at the first staredown between champion and challenger. As staredowns go, this ones a bit strange and by strange I mean awkward and by awkward I mean really awkward. Mostly due to the fact that the fighters are staring at each other through a TV screen. Apparently Barao wasn’t able to make the promotional event, so instead the two fighters faced off in a virtual staring contest (pictured above). Uhm…ok. Good thing things didn’t get heated between the two of them.

The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale goes down on April 16 in Quebec City. Sarah Kaufman was scheduled to face Shayna Baszler. Baszler suffered an injury. The UFC got Amanda Nunes as a replacement. Nunes then suffered a broken hand. Now, a week away, Kaufman has a third opponent lined up. Leslie Smith will make her UFC debut against Kaufman. These two actually fought a year ago at Invicta FC 5, where Kaufman won.
