The only success Nicholas Musoke stumbled upon during this fight was when he opted to take the fight to the ground in the opening round. He rode the back of Gastelum for the majority of the round, but could not get in position to work for a submission. When they got back to their feet, Gastelum relied on his power shots to keep Musoke backing up.

Nate Marquardt made his return to the middleweight division at UFC Fight Night 43, where he submitted hard-hitting James Te Huna in the first round. The win snapped his three fight losing streak (all contested at welterweight). After the fight at the post-fight press conference Marquardt spoke about his return to the division that he had so much success with in the past.

Fight of The Night: Gian Villante vs. Sean O’Connell– What a way to get things started! In the first fight of the night these two light-heavyweights went to war and didn’t stop until final bell. O’Connell walked forward the whole fight like a terminator. In the second he landed a huge left hook that dropped Villante. Villante was able to recover and in the third round really found his counter striking rhythm. The two stood the whole fight and threw strikes relentlessly. Ultimately it was Villante who picked up the split decision win, but the real winners were the fans.
