Carlos Condit Suffered Torn Meniscus And Possible Torn ACL

By bjpenndotcom - March 17, 2014

This past Saturday at UFC 171 the fight between welterweights Carlos Condit and Tyron Woodley ended abruptly in the second round. Condit was in pain after a takedown by Woodley, and shortly after that he ate a leg kick that caused him to spin. While spinning, his right leg got twisted and he fell to the mat in pain.

According to Condit’s coach, Mike Winkeljohn, the “Natural Born Killer” suffered a small tear to his meniscus and a possible torn ACL. Winkeljohn also let MMAJunkie know that Condit would be undergoing an MRI to confirm any additional injuries.

The ending to the fight now leaves the welterweight division in a strange place. Johny Hendricks won the title, but with Condit seemingly out for a while (and having a recent record of 1-3), and Woodley winning the fight in a not so definitive way, who gets the next title shot? Hector Lombard threw his name in there after his win over Jake Shields, one which didn’t really impress anyone, and then there’s news of Nick Diaz wanting back in the octagon. So, I guess we will just wait and see what happens. What do you guys think, who should challenge Hendricks first?
