Wanderlei Silva still "pissed", wants Chael Sonnen fight

Back in 2013, Chael Sonnen coached ‘The Ultimate Fighter Brazil: Season 3’ opposite MMA legend Wanderlei Silva. The pair were at each others throats throughout the entire season, with things coming to a head when the pair ended up brawling during the filming of an episode. Silva was angry with Sonnen, and took a swing at ‘The American Gangster’ who quickly slipped the punch and took Silva down, while wearing flip flops. Both teams quickly intervened, with Sonnen being punched in the back of the head by a member of Silva’s coaching staff.

Pride FC icon Wanderlei Silva was released by the UFC earlier this year, and wasted little to no time in signing with Bellator MMA, and with Rizin Fighting Federation. While ‘The Axe Murderer’ currently doesn’t have any fights set with either promotion, he has made several appearances with both promotions. Recently, in Saitama, Japan, Silva appeared at the promotions opening round of their World Grand Prix.

Earlier this week bitter rivals Charles ‘Krazy Horse’ Bennett and former PRIDE champion Wanderlei Silva got into a war of words at a hotel in Japan. (Watch that video here). Well, it appears that the bad blood between Wanderlei Silva and Krazy Horse is still boiling as the two went at it again, this time backstage following Bennet’s seven-second knockout victory at RIZIN 2.

Earlier this month, former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen announced that he was ending his retirement, and had already signed an exclusive, multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA. Sonnen, who recently celebrated the end of his 2-year suspension handed to him by the NSAC, remained adamant throughout the course of his suspension that he was indeed retired. However, when it was announced that ‘The American Gangster’ had signed with Bellator MMA, Sonnen told reporters that the reason he lied about his retirement was because ‘bad guys lie’.

Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen was a recent guest on The MMA Hour where he told Ariel Helwani that he personally saved ‘TUF Brazil 3’ by showing opposing coach Wanderlei Silva his bank account. “The Axe Murderer” denied Sonnen’s recent claims in a video posted to Facebook, where he credited his coach Rafael Cordeiro as being the individual who convinced him to return to the TUF gym. Wanderlei Silva reveals frightening details regarding being hit by car

News emerged earlier this week that former MMA legend and former PRIDE FC champion Wanderlei Silva had been hit by a car while riding his bike. A statement was released through Silva’s official Facebook page, which requested that fans pray for the legend, as would need to undergo shoulder surgery. Now, in a new post, Wanderlei revealed that he will also need knee surgery, and could have died as a result of the accident. His post translates to:

Tragic news surfaced Wednesday afternoon that former PRIDE FC champion Wanderlei Silva had been hit by a car on his way home from the gym and would need to undergo surgery. While details weren’t given as to the nature of the injury to Silva’s shoulder, it was asked that fans pray for Silva as he underwent surgery.

Bellator MMA has just announced the signing of former UFC and PRIDE veteran Wanderlei Silva. The legendary fighter who announced his retirement after a lifetime ban from MMA after evading a random drug test has come out of retirement since being released by the UFC and a re-hearing with the Nevada Athletic Commission. Silva’s received an amended three-year suspension after the re-hearing and will be eligible to fight in the spring of 2017. Via Bellator MMA:

The infamous running of Wanderlei Silva from drug testing officials handed Silva a three year suspension down from a lifetime ban in the re-hearing with NSAC officials today. The original decision would of saw the end of “The Axe Murderer” career, however, his push for a fight with Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko won’t materialize this year due to the ban.
