UFC Vegas 87 Results: Umar Nurmagomedov defeats Bekzat Almakhan (Highlights)

Nurmagomedov (17-0 MMA) has gone a perfect 4-0 since joining the UFC ranks in January of 2021. In his most previous effort last January, ‘Young Eagle‘ picked up first-round knockout victory over Raoni Barcelos.

Meanwhile, Bekzat Almakhan (11-2 MMA) will enter his Octagon debut sporting an eight-fight win streak, his most recent being a TKO victory over Yan Ferraz under the OKTAGON MMA banner. The 26-year-old suffered his lone career defeat back in 2020, when he was submitted by Sultan Zholdoshbek.

Round one of this bantamweight matchup begins and Bekzat Almakhan lands a good kick to the body to start. He steps into the pocked and drops Umar Nurmagomedov with a big right over the top. The undefeated Russian scrambles up to his feet and quickly grabs a hold of his opponent. Nurmagomedov is able to drag Almakhan to the floor and proceeds to secure the position. Nurmagomedov spins to the back of his opponent and locks in a hook. Both hooks are in now. Some short right hands by Nurmagomedov after securing the body triangle. Nurmagomedov begins working for a rear-naked choke. He loses it and Almakhan regains guard. Some solid elbows by Nurmagomedov to close out round one.

Round two begins and Umar Nurmagomedov quickly moves in and secures an early takedown. Some good short punches and elbows from ‘Young Eagle’. Bekzat Almakhan scrambles and is able to get back up to his feet. He lands a head kick, but Umar is quickly in on a double leg and takes the fight back to the floor. Nurmagomedov postures up and bombs away. Almakhan once again is able to explode back up to his feet. Nurmagomedov immediately takes him down again and looks for the back. Full mount and now some nice elbows. Round two comes to an end.

Round three begins and Umar Nurmagomedov is quickly in on another single leg takedown attempt and proceeds to get it with relative ease. He is just smothering his opponent on the canvas now. Good elbows and right hands from ‘Young Eagle’. He cruises to see the final horn sound and will improve to 17-0 as a professional.
