Sean Strickland warns Khazmat Chimaev over street fight threat: “Ten minutes from your gym, bro”

Sean Strickland has taken exception to a threat from his UFC 328 opponent Khamzat Chimaev.
In a recent vlog with Adam Zubayraev, Chimaev dismissed the thought of harming Strickland inside the Octagon beyond the effects of combat sports competition. What was quite eye-opening, however, was when “Borz” discussed what would happen in a street fight between the two. That’s when Chimaev said, “If he dies, he dies.”
Never one to take such comments lightly, Strickland took to social media to respond by sharing his location near The Treigning Lab where Chimaev trains (via MMAFighting).
“I generally don’t post my location or my whereabouts, I don’t really drop pins where I’m at, I just don’t like to,” Strickland said. “But I was on Instagram and some stupid shit popped up in my feed about Chimaev saying you try to fight me, you’ll kill me in the streets.
“Dude, I was, like, 10 minutes from your gym. I was dropping tags and locations all day on my Instagram. Your homies that train with you follow me, they were seeing my story. You had to know where I was at.”
Strickland then warned Chimaev that he isn’t one to be threatened.
“Ten minutes from your gym, bro, I was probably right down the street with you,” Strickland said. “Part of me thought you’d show up, but as we all know with Costa, when he pulled your card, ‘Hold me back, hold me back.’ I’m like the last dude in America you should threaten, but I guess if you don’t show up, you don’t show up.”
Strickland and Chimaev will settle their beef inside the Prudential Center in Newark on May 9. This will be Chimaev’s first attempt at a successful UFC middleweight title defense. As for Strickland, it’s a bid to become a two-time 185-pound champion.
