Marc Goddard has responded to Conor McGregor, this after the Irish star took aim at the veteran referee over an incident in 2012.

The former two division UFC champion, McGregor, had taken to Twitter earlier this afternoon where he proceeded to throw shade at the veteran referee.

“What a great milestone in Irish MMA’s history!” McGregor said of his Cage Warriors performance in 2012. “The behavior of Britain’s Marc Goddard in the corner that night was horrendous. Burst into the cage and attacked referee Neil Hall in between rounds. The fight was still in play! Crazy behavior for an up and coming referee! Anyway 🇮🇪.“

This isn’t the first time that Conor McGregor has engaged with Goddard. In 2017, ‘Mystic Mac’ found himself in hot water after getting physical with the referee amid some confusion during his teammate Charlie Ward’s fight.

Despite the Irish stars recent comments, Marc Goddard chose to take the high road when responding to Conor McGregor.

“Hi Conor, been a while!” said Goddard. “I refereed your very next fight after that when you became champ champ for the 1st time remember! Congratulations on all your business success inside & outside of the game that you helped change forever! Hope to see you fight again soon. Slàinte!”

Conor McGregor has not stepped foot inside the cage since suffering a fourth round submission loss to the aforementioned Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

After announcing his second-career retirement earlier this year, Conor McGregor is now reportedly in negotiations with the UFC for a new deal. The restructuring of Conor’s contract pertains to the UFC’s new pay-per-view deal with ESPN+.

If an agreement can be reached, McGregor is hoping to return to the octagon in late summer or early fall.
