Kelvin Gastelum fires back at ‘little prick’ Conor McGregor

By Tom Taylor - February 10, 2019

If things had gone according to the original plan, surging UFC middleweight contender Kelvin Gastelum would have attempted to wrest the UFC middleweight title from the waist of Robert Whittaker in the main event of UFC 234 last night in Melbourne, Australia. Unfortunately for him, Whittaker was forced out of the fight with a hernia at the very last minute, postponing Gastelum’s shot at gold.

But that didn’t stop Kelvin Gastelum from parading around the arena with a new UFC title belt — perhaps borrowed from his new pal Henry Cejudo.

Seeing Gastelum toting a UFC belt without actually winning it did not go over well with former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor, who was watching the card from Miami.

After UFC 234, McGregor called Gastelum out for masquerading as a champion, and also took a dig at the middleweight contender for the apparent infection on his face, which caused a stir during fight week.

“Why is that worm holding the 185lb belt?” McGregor wrote. “There are worms crawling on his skin! It was absolutely ludicrous to even consider allowing him to compete. Let alone now walk around the arena shaking our fans hands. Someone sort this, this instant. And sterilize that belt. Immediately.”

This comment from Conor McGregor, understandably, promptly got a response from the official Kelvin Gastelum Twitter account.

“Come take if off… little prick!” this Tweet read.
