Jon Jones believes Most Valuable Promotions did a better job with their inaugural MMA event than UFC has done as of late.

MVP MMA 1 emanated from the Intuit Dome this past Saturday, and Jones was a special guest. The UFC legend joined the analyst desk to give his reaction to the card. During the broadcast, he expressed hope that he can get out of his UFC contract to fight Francis Ngannou, who knocked out Philipe Lins during the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano event.

Denise White caught up with “Bones” following MVP MMA 1, and he wasn’t shy in admitting he feels Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian did a better job running a combat sports event than the UFC brass.

“I thought the MVP promotion was absolutely unbelievable,” Jones said. “I think it was actually better the UFC. I’ve never been in such a promotion. They had the fog machines and TVs absolutely everywhere. Great fighters.”

Jones and UFC have had a tumultuous relationship over the years. The issues can be traced all the way back to 2012 when “Bones” was scheduled to defend the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Dan Henderson. The bout was scheduled to headline UFC 151, but Henderson pulled out due to an injury.

Chael Sonnen stepped up as a replacement opponent, but Jones’ camp refused to agree to the Sept. 1 date due to the change in opponent. The event was canceled and Dana White, who was the UFC president at the time, publicly blasted Jones and his team. Over the years, tension has been on and off between Jones and White, who is now the UFC CEO.

What do you make of Jon Jones’ comment about MVP MMA outshining UFC? Does he genuinely believe it, or is he simply frustrated with where things stand with the promotion he’s called home since 2008? Drop a comment below.
