Conor McGregor says he will fight in the UFC again

By Tom Taylor - June 6, 2019

As always, the fighting future of former two-division UFC champ Conor McGregor is shrouded in uncertainty. If one of his latest Tweets is to be taken at face value, however, he will indeed return to the Octagon.

Speaking on his Twitter account, McGregor noted that he’s already fought eleven times in the UFC, and confirmed that he will fight fight in the Octagon for a twelfth time. Twelve, of course, is an important number for the Irishman behind the popular Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey.

“Wow! I’ve had 11 UFC bouts to this date… Next up is the 12th,” he wrote.

Shortly thereafter, Conor McGregor put out another Tweet, thanking MMA fans for their support, not just of him, but of all fighters.

“Enjoying the crowd’s atmosphere right before I took my seat for UFC Poland,” he wrote. “A few fights before my own team mate made his walk. I love this game and the passionate fans in it! Remember without you, the fans, none of us would have the job that we have! I love you all! Thank you.”

While Conor McGregor seems interested in fighting again, it’s hard to determine where he fits into the current lightweight landscape, as many of his top-ranked rivals are booked. Khabib Nurmagomedov is scheduled to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in September, while Donald Cerrone and Tony Ferguson will face off at UFC 238 this weekend. That being said, Justin Gaethje is currently without a dance partner, and has made repeated call for a fight with the Irish star.

“Do it the right way pussy,” a fired up Gaethje replied to a recent McGregor Tweet. “Stop shitting on the integrity of the sport. You want [Khabib Nurmagomedov] again you fight me, or the winner of [Donald] “Cowboy” [Cerrone] and [Tony] Ferguson or get the fuck out of here and enjoy all that money.”

Do you believe that Conor McGregor will indeed return to the Octagon?
