Colby Covington isn’t done hurling personal digs at his former training partner Dustin Poirier.

Poirier found himself in the headlines after being arrested for public intoxication. Bodycam footage revealed that Poirier threatened to fight a police officer after he was removed from a flight for insulting staff members. Following the ordeal, Poirier appeared on “Diary of a CEO” to reveal that he went through some personal struggles thinking about his father, who is dealing with his own issues.

While many fighters within the MMA community have supported Poirier, Covington has been his biggest detractor. “Chaos” mocked Poirier by calling him “father of the year” following the arrest. Covington took things even further when speaking to MMAFighting‘s Mike Heck.

Covington was discussing Conor McGregor’s knee injury at UFC 329, but rather than take aim at the “Notorious” one, he used the topic to fire some more shots at “The Diamond.”

“He [McGregor] was giving Dustin great advice,” Covington said. “He said, ‘Bro, get this in control. Otherwise, your life’s gonna spiral out of control.’ You see Dustin, he’s cursing at a cop, and then calling the little desk ladies that are just sitting there, minding their own business, doing their job, calling them [expletive] multiple times. It’s disgusting. Dustin Poirier is the biggest fake nice guy I’ve ever seen in my life, and I’ve been telling people for years. I’ve been saying Dustin’s a fake nice guy. He plays a nice guy on camera, but off camera he’s a piece of [expletive] person. He’s a deadbeat father.”

Some have questioned what the motive is for Covington to continue berating Poirier given that both men have retired from pro MMA competition. There are those who believe Covington may be angling for a fight with Poirier, but things have gotten so personal that some fear it could go beyond the business of prizefighting.

Covington and Jorge Masvidal were once friends, but they became bitter enemies over a dispute regarding payment to a beloved coach. While the two eventually shared the Octagon, Masvidal ambushed Covington outside of a restaurant in Miami.
