After lengthy reign as the UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley is now without a title belt. The former champ lost this distinction at UFC 235, when he was thumped to a decision defeat by Kamaru Usman. That being said, Woodley’s journey is far from over. The former champion is determined to reclaim the UFC welterweight belt, and seeks to emulate Georges St-Pierre as he looks to rebound from his setback against Usman.

Former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, who just lost the title to Kamaru Usman, doesn’t believe McGregor is in a position to be making these kinds of demands. In an interview with TMZ, Woodley suggested McGregor fight him first. If the Irishman is able to clear that huge hurdle, he’ll be in a much more favorable position.

While Till entered this fight as a betting favorite, he was soundly defeated by the champion, succumbing to a submission in the bout’s second round. In hindsight, Till says he wasn’t in the right headspace heading into this fight with the incredibly dangerous Woodley, who has since lost the title. Tyron Woodley makes case for immediate rematch with Kamaru Usman

Tom Taylor - March 3, 2019

Tyron Woodley is no longer the UFC welterweight champion. The Roufusport representative’s reign came to a shocking end in the co-main event of UFC 235 on Saturday night, when he was walloped to a lopsided decision loss by streaking challenger Kamaru Usman. While this Tyron Woodley vs. Kamaru Usman fight was not particularly competitive, Woodley hopes that his previous accomplishments might earn him the opportunity. Many other former champions — Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Cody Garbrandt being recent examples — have been granted this kind of opportunity, and Woodley feels he deserves the same chance.

Dana White clears up welterweight title picture after UFC 235

Tom Taylor - March 3, 2019

Kamaru Usman did not let his UFC 235 welterweight title shot go to waste. For five rounds, the streaking challenger took the fight to the long-time champion Tyron Woodley, ultimately earning a unanimous decision win — and the belt — as a result. Now that he’s the champion, Usman would seem to have a plethora of options for his first title defense. There’s a potential rematch with Woodley. There’s a showdown with fellow wrestling standout Ben Askren. And of course, there’s a grudge match with Colby Covington.
