VIDEO | Champions TJ Dillashaw and Henry Cejudo have their first stare down

UFC 227 left us with plenty to be desired and in a way we sort of went in with plenty to be desired. Which leaves us wondering what’s next.

At the August 4th event in Los Angeles, two titles were on the line. The first being for the UFC flyweight crown and the other for the bantamweight.

Going into the night, the champions were TJ Dillashaw and Demetrious Johnson who everyone was hoping would be facing off with each other next rather than having separate opponents (both of which were rematches).

In Johnson’s title fight rematch, he took on the man he easily dispatched of two years prior in the Olympic gold medalist wrestler, Henry Cejudo.

The second time around, things would go very differently as Cejudo made many proper adjustments and his striking was night and day compared to their first encounter. Obviously, this worked out pretty well for the former Olympian as he shocked the world and upset the most successful champion in MMA history with a split decision victory.

Dillashaw would follow up the amazing fight of the night that was witnessed and he did so in impressive fashion.

Once again taking on his heated rival and former teammate, Cody Garbrandt, not much would change from their first fight other than when the fight ended.

Dillashaw would find the knockout win in the first round this time rather than the second as he closed the door on his rivalry with Team Alpha Male.

Which means it’s time to move on! In a division full of contenders ready for their shots, Dillashaw has multiple options to choose from. One of which now being the new champion Cejudo who called out the winner of Dillashaw’s fight right after he won.

With an expected immediate trilogy bout for Johnson in the future, because of injuries sustained in the fight, it looks like a window has opened for Cejudo to fight someone else before then. But as of right now, it just remains as speculation.
