McMahon, the longtime face of the WWE, was appointed TKO Group Holding’s Executive Chairman and board member following the company’s merger with the UFC. However, Vince’s position within the company drew heavy scrutiny after the Wall Street Journal shared a story regarding a lawsuit filed by Janel Grant, that insinuates Vince McMahon was abusing her sexually for years and even pimping her to other men.

Amidst the sensational allegations, WWE president Nick Khan shared a memo with TKO staff members last night, revealing McMahon’s resignation from the company.

“I wanted to inform you that Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his positions as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors. He will no longer have a role with TKO Group Holdings or WWE.”

Ronda Rousey, who is both a former UFC champion and former WWE champion, recently reacted to the news on ‘X‘ and suggested that Vince McMahon will still ‘have hand in the business’ as long as Bruce Prichard is around.

“Bruce Prichard is basically Vince’s avatar, if he’s still around Vince still has a hand in the business. Vince was still running things through Bruce when he was ‘gone’ before.”

Prichard, who may be best known by some wrestling fans as the colorful character ‘Brother Love’ from the late 80’s (see photo below), has been a longtime staple of the WWE. The 60-year-old professional wrestling executive worked for the WWF / WWE from 1987 – 2008, and since returned to the company in 2018.

Vince McMahon has since provided a statement to Deadline confirming his resignation:

“I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations and look forward to clearing my name. However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately.”

Bruce Prichard has not released any comment in regard to Ronda Rousey’s claims, but it will be interesting to see if ‘Brother Love’ remains onboard with the company following McMahon’s departure.
