Much has been made of the UFC’s decision to create the first ever female division. With WMMA’s leading lady, Ronda Rousey, leading the charge WMMA is expected to make it’s UFC debut in the first quarter of 2012.

“If you receive a bout agreement and can’t fight you should say something right away. He’s putting a lot of pressure on matchmakers because they’re trying to put on this final card. What are you doing to Zuffa when you’re pulling out and they’re spending weeks on promoting the fight? Now they have to find a replacement fight and he needs to fight. When you think about it he hasn’t fought in six months. So it’s not only about fighting for a title but also from a financial stand point. It’s frustrating. You signed to fight; you signed a bout agreement so let’s fight.” “For Luke, of course he wants to keep his title when he goes over to the UFC,” DeWitt said. “That’s going to be a bargaining chip when he restructures his contract for a UFC contract. I can see why this is a dangerous fight and obviously they don’t want to fight us.”

The highly-anticipated showdown between Remy Bonjasky (76-14, 40 KO’s) and Tyrone Spong (68-6-1 42 KO’s) will take place on Saturday, March 23 at the Excel Arena in London, England, it was announced today by Glory Sports International (GSI), parent company of the Glory World Series. The bout had previously been set for February 16 but with Bonjasky being set to participate in the GLORY 4 – TOKYO: GRAND SLAM 16-man mega-tournament on New Year’s Eve, it was decided that February would potentially be too soon for him to get back in the ring. He will now have several more weeks to recover from his tournament bouts and get in peak condition for his first-time meeting with Spong.

I got a lot of fights left in me. I’ve still got the competitive edge and that’s what it’s all about. And I still love the sport enough to want to compete. See? You can love the sport, but if you don’t love the sport enough to compete you better get out of there. It’s been really good, it’s been a blessing in disguise. When I started the team up, when I joined, JZ, Villefort and Jorge Santiago…we didn’t know what it was going to create, but whatever happened..this synergy or whatever, everybody just came together. And now the team that has come about because of it is amazing. And I’m just happy to be a part of all of it.

And people got upset at me for saying that because it was being blunt, or rude. Someone actually said that I was a ‘bully’ for doing that, so I felt that it should be addressed. …You have to be knowledgeable about martial arts, and you have to be able to physically separate people. You have to be able to move, and move very quickly. It’s a matter of the safety for all our fighters, and it’s very important.
