The news surrounding Jon Jones looks to be back focused on his training after his recent traffic citations issues seem to have passed. The former UFC light heavyweight champion is focused on his title fight coming up against the champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 197 on April 23. This fight will be Jones’ first since being reinstated by the UFC after battling legal issues stemming from a hit-and-run incident in 2015.

UFC welterweight title hopeful Demian Maia is getting some anxiety with just the talk of UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor getting a title shot in the welterweight division. McGregor is scheduled to fight for the UFC lightweight title on March 5 at UFC 196 against the lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. McGregor and his team have said that with a win over dos Anjos, going up to 170 for the welterweight is something in their sights. Maia spoke with Ariel Helwani on the MMA hour on Monday about his feelings on McGregor making his way up to the welterweight division.

With less than a week away, a main card bout for UFC Fight Night 83 has taken a turn for the worse. A bantamweight bout featuring John Lineker and Cody Garbrandt will not be taking place due to Lineker having to pull out of the fight due to dengue fever, according to MMA Junkie. Dengue fever is a disease caused by mosquito bites in tropical areas. Lineker who is from Brazil tweeted his apology to Garbrandt saying, “I apologize @Cody_Nolove,I know just how bad do all preparation and can not fight,we all went out harmed.”

The news of Benson Henderson stepping away from a new contract with the UFC to sign with Bellator MMA is still big news in the world of mixed martial arts. The former UFC and WEC lightweight champion is looking to add a third MMA title to his list of accomplishments as he takes on Andrey Koreshkov for the Bellator MMA welterweight championship on April 22nd at Bellator 153 in Connecticut. “I think Andrey has a lot of good kicks. He’s been working on his grappling,” Henderson said in an interview with MMA Mania. “I intend on leaving the cage with my hand raised and a new belt to add to my collection.”
