Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone have been going back and forth in a war of words since a press conference last year. Since then, McGregor has moved up to lightweight and will face Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 on March 5th. Cerrone, fresh off a loss to dos Anjos, will fight Alex Oliveira on Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Bellator MMA is expanding it’s reach in the combat sports world. It was revealed on Thursday that the promotion would begin hosting Kickboxing events as ‘Bellator Kickboxing’ starting in April. The announcement was made at the Bellator 149 press conference on Thursday in preparation for Friday’s Bellator 149 card.

Ahead of Conor McGregor’s UFC 196 lightweight showdown with Rafael dos Anjos on March 5th, there was much speculation as to what McGregor would do after the fight in regards to which weight class he would fight in. McGregor stated at the UFC 196 press conference that he wanted to hold the UFC featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight championships by the end of the year.

Ever since he was a kid growing up in a rough part of California in his hometown of Stockton, the bad boy from the 209 says that fighting always found him. Diaz recently did an interview with High Times about growing up fighting and how contrary to what many people might think of him, says that he is not a violent person.

Oliveira took the fight on short notice after Tim Means was forced to withdraw from the fight due to a potential USADA violation.

The 38-year-old former UFC light heavyweight champion and UFC heavyweight tournament champion has been a pioneer to the sport of mixed martial arts. With his first UFC fight taking place all the way back on Feb. 7, 1997, Belfort has been a very relevant fighter and remains so to this day. “The Phenom” surprised many with a recent announcement on his Facebook page that many die-hard fans may not have even known regarding his scholarly background. Befort proudly announced that he has been accepted into the very prestigious school, Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has a simple mentality with fighting in the UFC. “Cowboy” simply wants to fight. The UFC veteran who has his twentieth UFC fight on Feb. 21 at Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center at UFC Fight Night 83 will also set a new mark with 30 fights combined with the UFC and WEC promotions. “I just want to fight,” Cerrone told ESPN. “I’ve tried to go up and take fights at 170 pounds before and [the UFC] always told me no. Now, they’re telling me yes, so I’m like, ‘Hell yeah.’

Since Conor McGregor began gaining momentum in the UFC, McGregor has been asking for more and more when it comes to demands for fights. When it came to negotiations with the UFC for his UFC 196 lightweight scrap with Conor McGregor, there were reports that McGregor had been asking for a 7-figure contract. McGregor then showed up late to the UFC 196 press conference, which lead many to wonder if McGregor was trying to send a message to the UFC brass.

It’s no secret that UFC veteran Nick Diaz has used marijuana throughout the course of his fight career. Diaz has failed 2 drug tests throughout his fight career for marijuana, and has been an advocate for marijuana usage. Diaz was handed a 5 year suspension from the NSAC after he failed a drug test following his UFC 183 main event scrap with Anderson Silva. Diaz and the NSAC went into settlement talks after the 5 year suspension caused an uproar, and the suspension was ultimately reduced to 18 months retroactively. Given this, Diaz will once again be eligible to fight on August 1st.

Last month, former UFC champion BJ Penn announced that he was officially ending his retirement and going after the 145 pound belt. Penn teamed up with Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn at Jackson-Wink MMA for his highly anticipated return. While he was initially supposed to return on March 5th, the UFC pushed the bout back to April. However, no opponent has been named for ‘The Prodigy’ in his return bout.

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has not had any good things to say about Conor McGregor since losing to him at UFC 194 back in December. While McGregor took just 13-seconds to bring Aldo’s dreams and records to a screeching halt, the Brazilian still does not have any respect for “The Notorious” and told media in Rio de Janeiro that he doesn’t see his glory lasting much longer. “I think it’s tough,” Aldo said when asked if he thinks McGregor can beat dos Anjos and go after the welterweight title next (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “And I’ll say this: I don’t think he will have any belt by the end of the year. And everyone will forget him. He has this dream, this goal, but you can be sure that he won’t have any (belt) by the end of the year.”
