Top heavyweight contenders Ben Rothwell and Junior dos Santos squared off in tonight’s UFC Fight Night 86 main event. Both men were able to land some heavy shots in the opening round. JDS scored some great shots to the body while “Big Ben” found a home for his overhand right on frequent occasion.

A heavyweight tilt between Gabriel Gonzaga and Derrick Lewis served as the co-main event of today’s UFC Fight Night 86 event. After a slow start which included both fighters looking “gassed”, Derrick Lewis was able to land a massive punch that destroyed Gonzaga who went crashing to the canvas.

While there has been much speculation as to who will get the next lightweight title shot now that Conor McGregor has been booked to fight Nate Diaz in a rematch at UFC 200, Rafael dos Anjos already has an opponent in mind. During a recent appearance on Inside MMA, where RDA also revealed that he will be ready to fight in July, he hinted at a fight with Eddie Alvarez.

While UFC 200 is stacked with quite a few high-profile bouts such as McGregor vs. Diaz II, Tate vs. Nunes, and Aldo vs. Edgar II, one fight that promises to deliver fireworks is Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Lauzon. The pair have combined for 18 post-fight bonuses over the course of their UFC careers. Given that, it’s no surprise that Sanchez vs. Lauzon is one of the most highly anticipated fights on the July 9th card.

Despite Saint Preux’s impressive 7-2 record that has seen him stop 5 opponents in 5 of his 7 wins, many are overlooking the #6 ranked light heavyweight, but Jon Jones isn’t.

Earlier this month it was revealed that UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier had injured his leg in training, and would be unable to fight Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 197 on April 23rd. The UFC booked Ovince Saint Preux as a replacement opponent for Jones, and made the bout an interim title fight. Assuming Jon Jones wins the fight, Daniel Cormier would like to have his rematch with the pound for pound king ASAP.

At UFC 200, Amanda Nunes will face the toughest test of her professional MMA career as she fights Miesha Tate for the UFC women’s bantamweight championship in the co-main event. When the fight was announced, many questioned whether or not Nunes deserved a title shot despite her 3-fight win streak. Holly Holm’s camp came out and accused Tate of turning down a rematch with Holm in order to take an easier fight, which lead to Tate’s camp refuting the claims.

Late Friday evening news broke that former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir had failed a drug test following his ‘UFC Fight Night: Brisbane’ KO loss to Mark Hunt. The UFC released a statement along with the announcement of Mir’s failed drug test, which was followed by a statement from Mir himself.

News broke late Friday evening that former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir had Ben informed of a potential doping violation by the US Anti-Doping Agency.  The potential drug testing failure stems from Mir’s recent fight against Mark Hunt, which he lost via 1st round KO.  The UFC released a statement through UFC.com which read: The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Frank Mir of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an in-competition sample collected the day of his fight on March 20, 2016 in Brisbane, Australia.
