After UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos’ strength & conditioning coach captioned an Instagram photo with a major hint at dos Anjos fighting at UFC 200, the UFC officially announced the bout. On Thursday July 7th, just two days before UFC 200, Rafael dos Anjos will look to defend his UFC lightweight championship against Eddie Alvarez on UFC Fight Pass.

Earlier this week news surfaced that former UFC champion Lyoto Machida had been pulled from his upcoming UFC on FOX 19 scrap against Dan Henderson after admitting to using a banned substance during an out-of-competition drug test. While Dan Henderson was extremely pissed about the situation, Machida claimed that he was unaware that the substance contained a banned substance. The way top ranked welterweight Matt Brown sees it however, that’s not an excuse.

In addition to McGregor vs. Diaz II, Tate vs. Nunes, and Edgar vs. Aldo II, it appears as though UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos will be fighting on the event as well.

Despite Horcher being a newcomer to the UFC, Nurmagomedov says that he wants a title shot if he wins because he didn’t choose the opponent.

While many UFC fighters are opposed to the UFC’s uniform deal with Reebok, none have been more outspoken than top middleweight Tim Kennedy. Kennedy hasn’t fought in the UFC in nearly two years following his controversial TKO loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178, however he has been looking to return to the Octagon sooner rather than later against fighters who have tested positive for PEDs.

On Thursday afternoon New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill officially legalizing MMA in New York. This led to the UFC promptly announcing that their inaugural event in New York would go down on November 12th. UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta revealed that UFC 205 would be the inaugural event at the Madison Square Garden, and that there is a possibility of Ronda Rousey returning to the Octagon for the event.

When the UFC deletes a fighter from their roster, it is usually the result of them being released from the biggest MMA organization in the world. Nine fighters have been deleted from the UFC roster and many of them have already confirmed their release from the UFC.

At UFC 200 on July 9th, Conor McGregor will have a welterweight rematch with Nate Diaz, and Frankie Edgar will fight Jose Aldo for the interim featherweight championship. UFC President Dana White has stated that regardless of whether or not McGregor defeats Diaz, his next fight will be a featherweight title defense. With the UFC announcing an event in New York on November 12th at the Madison Square Garden, Frankie Edgar believes the stars could be aligning for a showdown with McGregor at the famed arena.

Dan Henderson was fully prepared and ready to fight Lyoto Machida this weekend at UFC on FOX 19. Unfortunately, “Hendo” learned on Wednesday that he would not be fighting at all. News broke that Machida declared the usage of a banned substance during an out-of-competition sample collection last week and would not be allowed to fight on Saturday.

Back in January, Dominick Cruz returned to the Octagon and defeated TJ Dillashaw to reclaim the UFC bantamweight championship. Immediately following his win over Dillashaw, Cruz found himself being called out by his nemesis, Urijah Faber. The UFC ultimately opted to book Cruz vs. Faber III for UFC 199 on June 4th in Inglewood California. Ahead of that fight things have been tense between Cruz and Faber during media appearances. During an interview with MMAJunkie, Cruz put the bantamweight division on blast for its lack of depth.

At Bellator 149, Kimbo Slice and Dada 5000 put on one of the least impressive fights in the history of MMA. The fight drew extreme amounts of criticism from not only fighters, but also fight fans. After the fight however, it was revealed that Dada 5000 had suffered from kidney failure during the fight, and that his heart had stopped twice.
