Recently news broke that MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko would be returning to MMA in front of his native Russian fans when he fights UFC veteran Fabio Maldonado under the Fight Nights Global banner in June. Ahead of the fight, a shocking detail emerged that there would be no PED testing ahead of, or the night of, the fight. Following that announcement, Maldonado admitted to BloodyElbow that he had been using PEDs during the last stretch of his UFC career, and that he plans to do so in his upcoming fight against Emelianenko.

Women’s MMA is still growing and Joanne Calderwood (10-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Valerie Letourneau (8-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) are stamping their place in UFC history at UFC Fight Night 89. Calderwood and Letourneau will meet in Ottawa, Canada on June 18 at The Arena at TD Place in the UFC’s very first women’s flyweight bout.

UFC 199 takes place on June 4th at The Forum in Los Angeles with two title fights taking place as Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman fight in their immediate rematch and Dominick Cruz defends his belt against Urijah Faber in their career rubber match. UFC Hall of Fame legend BJ Penn also makes his return to the Octagon against Dennis Siver in a featherweight bout. The UFC returns to the state of California for their first event since the California State Athletic Commission has enforced newly placed rules to combat dangerous weight cutting and dehydration.

While some members of the MMA community believe the McGregor is obligated to fulfill his media obligations ahead of UFC 200, because promo is part of his job, others like Don Frye believe that McGregor’s job is to fight, not promote fights. UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is the biggest draw currently in the UFC with the records to back it up. So, when the UFC announced that they pulled “The Notorious” off UFC 200 for his refusal to take part in media obligations to promote the fight, a lot of people were scratching their heads.

While Conor McGregor was just pulled from UFC 200 less than 2 weeks ago, Nate Diaz believes that McGregor was never actually in the fight. McGregor announced his retirement on social media, leaving many fans confused. UFC President Dana White then announced on SportsCenter that McGregor had been pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations for the event. While there has been quite a bit of back-and-forth between McGregor and the UFC, the UFC brass has stuck to their guns and refused to give into McGregor’s demands.

Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will square off with former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo for the promotions interim featherweight title at UFC 200 this July. The fight will mark the second time that Edgar and Aldo have gone to battle inside the octagon. “The Answer” suffered a unanimous decision loss to Aldo in the main event of UFC 156 in February 2013.

Today’s UFC 200 press conference was apparently a prime example of “Mystic Mac’s” drawing power, as it is being reported that the presser received significantly less viewers in comparison to the UFC 196 press conference that occurred just over a month ago.

The initial headlining bout for UFC 200 is no longer an option, according to the UFC. Conor McGregor will not be fighting Nate Diaz in their non-title welterweight rematch as originally planned. Instead, Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones will fight in the main event of UFC 200 for the undisputed UFC light heavyweight title.

Perennial lightweight contender Nate Diaz was expected to rematch current UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor in a welterweight bout at this July’s UFC 200 event in Las Vegas. Unfortunately for fight fans, McGregor refused to attend certain media obligations to promote the UFC 200 event and was thus pulled off the card by UFC officials.
