Former Bellator MMA Talent Development Director Zach Light is suing Bellator and parent company Viacom for wrongful dismissal. Light filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court. According to the complaint, Light alleges that it became known to him that fighters under Bellator MMA were using fraudulent medical reports to be permitted to fight for the promotion.

UFC welterweight contenders Rory MacDonald and Stephen Thompson are set for battle at UFC Fight Night 89 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on June 18. MacDonald and head coach Firas Zahabi have brought in some help to train for their fight with Thompson, who comes from a karate background.

While many initially expected GSP to return to the Octagon for UFC 200, there were several bumps in the road along the way, mainly the UFC’s deal with Reebok.

The UFC announced on Wednesday that newly crowned heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will defend his title for the first time against Alistair Overeem in the main event of UFC 203. The event takes place in Miocic’s hometown of Cleveland, Ohio in the Q Arena. Nick Kalikas of MMAOddsBreaker.com opened up the betting lines with the champion favored in the bout at -170 and Overeem at +140.

Ahead of UFC 200 on July 9th, it appears as though Frankie Edgar has had enough of Jose Aldo’s trash talk. The pair are currently slated to fight on the main card in an interim featherweight championship fight, with the winner facing Conor McGregor at a later date. Recently, Edgar stated that he felt Aldo was talking trash just to hype the fight, but was doing a rather poor job of it. In a new interview with MMAJunkie, Edgar continued his retorts to Aldo’s comments:

After Chris Weidman withdrew from his UFC 199 title fight against Luke Rockhold due to a neck injury, there was much speculation as to whether Michael Bisping or Jacare Souza would get the nod to fight for the middleweight championship on short notice. Ultimately, it was revealed that Jacare would need to undergo knee surgery after his TKO win over Vitor Belfort, leading the UFC to give Bisping the shot.

Nate Diaz has got some great boxing skills and made Conor McGregor crumble in their fight at UFC 196 with, yes, his boxing. While Diaz thinks the McGregor vs. Mayweather talk is all just a publicity stunt to build their respective fanbases, Diaz says he would beat down both McGregor and Mayweather on the same night.

While Conor McGregor’s next opponent was initially supposed to be Nate Diaz, after McGregor was pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations, talks of a potential boxing match with Floyd Mayweather quickly picked up steam. Now, the reports have gone so far as to reveal that McGregor & Mayweather will have their boxing match in September. Throughout all of that, the UFC has been asking Diaz to sign a contract to fight McGregor sooner rather than later.

Earlier this week, unfortunate news surfaced that BJ Penn had been pulled from his scheduled UFC 199 bout with Cole Miller after he voluntarily disclosed that he used an IV back in March. Given that Penn and Miller were slated to be the headlining preliminary card fight, many assumed that Miller would receive a new opponent for the event.

Diego Brandao recently found himself as a free agent in the MMA market after he was arrested for aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and assault with a deadly weapon last month. Prior to that however, Brandao was submitted by Brian Ortega back at UFC 195. Following the fight, Brandao failed a drug test when he tested positive for marijuana.
