Ahead of Conor McGregor’s welterweight UFC 202 rematch against Nate Diaz, the featherweight champ is wasting no time in bringing in elite level boxers to help him prepare for the bout. Michael Conlan is a 2012 Olympic Bronze medalist, and and Paddy Barnes is a two-time Olympic bronze medalist. Both men vouched for McGregor’s skills via Twitter after the training session.
UFC sale reportedly for entire ownership of company

The news of the potential sale of the UFC picked up once again earlier this week as it was announced that the sale was “definitely progressing” with no terms being given. Now, according to Dave Meltzer the bidding for the promotion is going to end above $4 billion and would see a complete transfer of ownership from the Fertitta brothers to the highest bidder.

Update on Anderson Silva fighting at UFC 200

Former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva was supposed to fight Uriah Hall at UFC 198 in Curitiba, Brazil last month, however ‘The Spider’ was forced to undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder the week of the fight. Silva set his sights on a return to the Octagon at UFC 200, hoping to avenge his loss to Michael Bisping earlier this year. Chael Sonnen initially reported that Silva vs. Hall had been rebooked for UFC 200, however that is no longer the case.

Anthony Pettis featherweight debut set for August

Earlier this month, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis announced his intentions to drop down to featherweight in hopes of ending his 3-fight skid. On Wednesday, it was announced that Pettis would be making his featherweight debut in Vancouver on August 27th against #7 ranked featherweight Charles Oliveira.

UFC strawweight Claudia Gadelha’s only loss in her professional mixed martial arts career was from her fight against Joanna Jedrzejczyk back in 2014. Their fight was a close one with Jedrzejczyk walking out with the win after being awarded the split-decision victory that many argue could have gone either way. Gadelha and Jedrzejczyk’s rivalry continues as coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter” series 23 and will rematch this time for the UFC strawweight title in the Finale on July 8.

In the co-main event of UFC 199, Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber stepped into the Octagon to put an end to their nearly 10-year long feud. While Faber submitted Cruz in the pair’s first meeting, Cruz came out on top in their second bout, and at UFC 199, where he convincingly defeated Faber. Now that Faber has had over a week to digest the bout, he took to Instagram to reflect on how things played out after watching the fight for the first time.

Former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva has been out of action since his UFC London loss to Michael Bisping earlier this year. ‘The Spider’ was slated to fight Uriah Hall in a highly anticipated matchup at UFC 198, however he was forced out of the bout after it was revealed that he would need his gallbladder removed. While Silva has intentions of fighting at UFC 200, there has so far been no word yet on whether or not he will be able to fight on the card.

The MMA world was taken by surprise last week when it was revealed that Kimbo Slice had passed away at the age of 42. Unbeknownst to the MMA community, Slice had a mass on his liver and needed a heart transplant. Prior to being transported to another hospital to await a heart transplant, Slice passed away.
Michael Bisping clarifies post-fight exchanges with Luke Rockhold

In the main event of UFC 199, Michael Bisping shocked the world as he knocked Luke Rockhold out cold in the very first round of their UFC 199 middleweight title scrap. Following the fight, Bisping and Rockhold engaged in two heated verbal exchanges. The first was in the Octagon, where Rockhold refused to shake Bisping’s hand a second time. The second was at the post-fight press conference when Rockhold began stating that he would “kill” Bisping. The pair exchanged heated words in front of media members, and ultimately had to be separated.

On the main event of UFC 199, Michael Bisping shocked the world and knocked Luke Rockhold out cold to win the UFC middleweight championship. The win set up a potential rematch between the two, where Bisping could potentially avenge the brutal KO loss he suffered at UFC 100.
