News surfaced Friday evening that UFC heavyweight Daniel Omielanczuk had failed a USADA-administered out-of-competition drug test and been notified of a potential anti-doping policy violation according to MMAFighting. Omielanczuk tested positive for meldonium, which is on the WADA banned substance list as of January 1st. The strange part of Omielanczuk’s case is that he won’t be provisionally suspended due to the lingering questions regarding the drug.

It sounds like Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson are getting the fight they both want. Combate reported on Friday that UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and #13 UFC ranked middleweight Dan Henderson have both verbally agreed to fight one another for the UFC middleweight title in October. The report states that the contracts are expected to be signed in the coming weeks with the official announcement from the UFC coming shortly after.

After winning the UFC featherweight championship by knocking out Jose Aldo in the main event of UFC 194, Conor McGregor opted to go up to lightweight to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title at UFC 196. Ultimately, dos Anjos was forced to withdraw from the fight with a broken foot, and was replaced by Nate Diaz on just two weeks notice. On fight night, Diaz submitted McGregor in the second round of their welterweight matchup.

Last month, Fabio Maldonado and Fedor Emelianenko squared off in a highly anticipated heavyweight showdown in the main event of EFN 50 in Russia. In the first round, Maldonado rocked Emelianenko for almost the entire round, nearly finishing the MMA legend. While the fight arguably could have been stopped, the referee allowed the fight to continue.

Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier were initially slated to have their highly anticipated rematch at UFC 197 on April 23rd in what was Jones’ first fight back in the Octagon since being stripped of his light heavyweight championship. Cormier pulled out of the fight with a knee injury, and was ultimately replaced by Ovince St-Preux on short notice. The fight became an interim light heavyweight championship fight, with the winner set to face Daniel Cormier for the undisputed light heavyweight championship.

Back in early June, Michael Bisping knocked out Luke Rockhold in the main event of UFC 199 to claim the UFC middleweight championship. Since then, Bisping has found himself being called out by nearly the entire middleweight division. In addition, Bisping revealed that former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre had contacted his team about a fight. St-Pierre hadn’t fought since his 2013 split decision win over Johny Hendricks, and while rumors have continually surfaced that St-Pierre will return to the Octagon, this remains the only time St-Pierre’s team officially requested a fight.

Since it was announced that Brock Lesnar had missed 3 of 4 USADA random drug testing cycles given the fact that his UFC 200 fight with Mark Hunt wasn’t announced until June 4th, many fans have accused Lesnar of using PEDs. USADA likely was suspicious of the situation as well, which prompted them to apparently test Lesnar 5 times in the span of one week.

Rousey beat Tate back in 2012 under the Strikeforce banner to claim the women’s bantamweight championship. A year later she fought Tate once again under the UFC banner where she successfully defended her UFC women’s bantamweight championship.
