Michael Bisping re-lives knockout win over Luke Rockhold

By bjpenndotcom - July 2, 2016

Nearly one month ago, Michael Bisping stepped into the Octagon on just two weeks notice to fight Luke Rockhold in the main event of UFC 199 for the middleweight championship. Bisping defeated Rockhold via first round knockout to claim the middleweight championship after almost a decade with the promotion.

Now, in an interview with Starsport, Bisping reflected on the win, saying:

“I knew I had punching power and what better way to convince the world that I have punching power than to knock out the world champion in three minutes.”

“Of course, I beat Luke and got revenge, which isn’t that important to me if I’m honest.”

“I got the belt which was obviously important, I showed the world that I do have punching power, I showed them that I’ve got killer instinct to finish it in the first round.”

So far there’s been no word yet as to when Bisping will defend his championship, or who he will defend it against. While Bisping is eyeing a fight with Dan Henderson, Georges St-Pierre reportedly wants a middleweight title fight.

In addition, #1 contender Jacare Souza revealed recently that is back in the gym following his surgery, and is ready to fight whenever the UFC wants.
