When Jake Ellenberger stepped into the Octagon to fight Matt Brown on the main card of UFC 201 last month, ‘The Juggernaut’ knew he was in a must-win situation. Ellenberger entered the bout on a 2-fight losing streak, going 1-4 in his last 5 fights. Ellenberger put on a spectacular performance as he dropped Brown just seconds into the fight, ultimately finishing ‘The Immortal’ later in the round with a perfectly placed liver kick.

Earlier this year, many fans thought former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre would be returning to the Octagon to fight middleweight champion Michael Bisping after reports surfaced that St-Pierre’s camp reached out to Bisping’s camp for a fight. Despite that, St-Pierre never returned to the UFC, and reports of his return died down briefly. Now, on the heels of Tyron Woodley winning the UFC welterweight championship and calling out GSP, Chael Sonnen points out an important detail in regards to what has to be done for the fight to be made official. The former champ initially planned on filming several movies in Hollywood, and then returning to the Octagon. With that being said, Rousey has maintained radio silence regarding when she plans to return to the Octagon, only hinting at the subject in an interview where she stated that she wants her belt back.

The event will be held in Brasilia, Brazil, and according to MMAWeekly will see Cyborg square off against UFC newcomer Lina Lansberg, however there has been no word as to what weight the fight will take place at.

While many believe that USADA is doing a phenomenal job of testing UFC fighters in an attempt to eliminate PED usage in MMA, the US Anti-Doping Agency isn’t ready to take their foot off the pedal just yet. UFC VP of Athlete Health & Performance Jeff Novitzky told MMAFighting that USADA is looking to test nearly 700 fighters in the 3rd quarter of 2016, nearly triple the amount they were doing per quarter in 2015.

In addition to the rumored Bisping vs. Henderson rematch going down in the main event, MMAFighting is reporting that Jimi Manuwa vs. Ovince Saint Preux is being targeted for a light heavyweight scrap for the event. In addition, Stefan Struve vs. Ruslan Magomedov is being targeted for the event in a heavyweight tilt.

Diaz, fresh off an 18-month suspension for testing positive for marijuana, said that he isn’t in any rush to get back in the Octagon. Diaz stated that even though Woodley has the belt, he is the one that is giving him the shot at a big name fight, not the other way around.
