Derrick Lewis (16-4 MMA) was hoping to get a fight against former champ Fabricio Werdum at next month’s UFC 203 event, this after Ben Rothwell was forced to withdraw from the cards scheduled co-main event with an injury. Unfortunately for “The Black Beast”, UFC officials opted to give Travis Browne the opportunity to rematch Werdum in the co-headliner of UFC 203 in Cleveland.

Current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor recently hosted a private UFC 202 media day at his personal gym in Las Vegas to discuss his upcoming rematch with Nate Diaz on August 20. At one point “Mystic Mac” was asked to address the recently failed USADA drug tests of former UFC champions Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar, which stemmed from UFC 200, and the Irish star did not hold back:

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is just one week away from the biggest fight of his MMA career when he rematches Nate Diaz in a welterweight bout in main event of UFC 202. Diaz submitted McGregor in the second-round of their UFC 196 headlining bout this past March in Sin City. The loss served as the first of “Mystic Mac’s” UFC career.

Earlier this week, UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy announced he would be returning from his 2-year hiatus for a “big fight” in the Octagon. With that being said, Kennedy didn’t disclose who his fight would be against, however many speculated that it would be a rematch with Yoel Romero, the man to controversially defeat him in his last fight.

After submitting Angela Magana at the TUF 21 Finale, Waterson was forced out of her UFC 194 bout with a knee injury. After news surfaced earlier this week that her opponent for UFC FN: Hamburg, Aisling Daly, was out of the bout with an undisclosed injury, Waterson shared a photo of an X-ray of a broken finger sustained in training.

UFC bantamweight contender Cody Garbrandt is hoping that an impressive victory at next weekend’s UFC 202 event in Las Vegas will earn him a title shot against Dominick Cruz. “He said he’s going to add to my concussion list,” Garbrandt said, referring to a recent Cruz interview with MMAjunkie. “That says to me like he’s going to try to go in there and kill me. He wants to do that, so I’m definitely going to make him eat every one of his words. He’s going to be eating through a straw for a couple of months after we fight.”

Two-time Olympic Judo gold medalist Kayla Harrison spoke with reporters on Friday and stated that she has received multiple offers to fight in mixed martial arts promotions. The 26-year-old, who became the first American to win two gold medals in Judo at this years Rio Olympics, says she has no interest in joining the sport of MMA at this time.
