Overeem on Training with Arlovski: I Don't Think He's Cool With Me At All

Over the last few years, UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem has spent a good deal of time training under the tutelage Greg Jackson in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Yet when Overeem was booked to fight Andrei Arlovski, a long time staple of Jackson’s camp, things got a little awkward. Jackson and co. opted to corner Arlovski for the fight, while Overeem reduced his time at the Albuquerque gym and did most of his training elsewhere. Now that the fight has come and gone, however, Overeem is back at Jackson’s, training under the same room as his recent foe as he prepares for his upcoming title fight with Stipe Miocic.

This past Saturday in Vancouver, Demian Maia picked up arguably the biggest win of his UFC career as he submitted Carlos Condit in the first round of their main event scrap. The finish was a beautiful one that left many MMA fans stunned given that Condit had never been submitted in the UFC, and possess some of the most lethal standup striking in the UFC’s 170 pound division.

Earlier this month, Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor put on what many consider to be one of the greatest fights of all time in the main event of UFC 202. Ultimately, the judges scored the fight a majority decision for Conor McGregor. While the MMA community is itching to see a trilogy fight between the two, this time at lightweight, UFC President Dana White has remained adamant that a trilogy fight doesn’t make sense right now.

Leading up to Conor McGregor’s UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz earlier this month, UFC President Dana White stated that regardless of whether or not McGregor wins or loses, he will be forced to return to featherweight and defend his championship. While McGregor has continued to remain noncommittal in regards to returning to featherweight, UFC President Dana White seems to be confident that McGregor will return to featherweight without the UFC brass having to play hard ball.
Stephen Thompson Thinks Tyron Woodley Should be Stripped of Title if He Doesn't Defend

UFC welterweight Stephen Thompson has put in the work, racking up seven-straight wins, including triumphs over fighters like Robert Whittaker, Jake Ellenberger, Johny Hendricks and Rory MacDonald. Now, all he wants his a welterweight title shot–ideally at UFC 205 in New York City this November. Unfortunately, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, who won the the belt by snuffing Robbie Lawler in July, seems to have other plans. If the new champ has his way, his first defense will be a ‘money fight’ opposite welterweight great Georges St-Pierre, or fan favorite Nick Diaz–not against Thompson.

Max Holloway weighing his options for featherweight gold

Max Holloway doesn’t care who he gets his belt from, because with interim champion Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor both holding featherweight gold, the Hawaiian has options. “I can’t be focusing on just Conor, Aldo has a belt too,” Holloway said on the MMA Hour. “Conor may have to drop the belt if he doesn’t come back to 145 pounds soon.”

So I thought, who should I fight? Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Mark Hunt is not happy with his current employer the Ultimate Fighting Championship or the fighters on the promotions roster. After suffering a decision loss to former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar in the co-main event of UFC 200, it was revealed to “The Super Samoan” and the MMA world that Lesnar had tested positive for an estrogen-blocking substance in both his pre-fight and post-fight tests.
