Frustration and emotion caused an odd incident to occur at UFC Fight Night 95 in Brazil over the weekend. Following the heavyweight bout between Roy Nelson and Antonio Silva, Nelson kicked referee “Big” John McCarthy after what Nelson explained what he thought was a late stoppage.

The biggest story leading up to UFC Fight Night 95 in Brazil was regarding Cris Cyborg’s drastic weight cut to make 140 pounds for her catchweight bout against Lina Lansberg. The Invicta featherweight champion had to drop an additional five pounds below her usual cut to 145 in order to make the catchweight limit and had to cut 25 pounds in less than a week.

The UFC 199 bout against Lombard was the last fight to fulfill his UFC contract.

Nelson booted McCarthy moments after the fight ended in the second round after what ‘Big Country’ perceived to be a very late stoppage.

During that time, Eddie Alvarez has won the 155 pound strap, and the Dagestani fighter has relentlessly pursued a fight with Alvarez ever since. Khabib took to Twitter on Monday and posted a photoshopped reference to the film ‘The Shining’, where he is the crazed axe-wielding villain and Alvarez is the cowering heroine.

UFC heavyweight veteran Roy “Big Country” Nelson scored knockout number 14 of his storied mixed martial arts career at last night’s UFC Fight Night 95 event in Brazil. Nelson caught his opponent, former UFC heavyweight title challenger Antonio Silva, with a massive uppercut late in round two that sent “Bigfoot” crashing to the canvas. Roy quickly followed Silva to the floor where he unleashed some heavy ground and pound strikes which eventually prompted referee John McCarthy to step in and stop the bout.

The 33-year-old is currently recovering from surgery, this to repair a broken hand suffered in his latest octagon appearance. With that said, Jouban is already planning his UFC return, as he hopes to compete again this December in Sacramento, possibly against veteran Patrick Cote.
