Late last month, a disgruntled interim featherweight champion in Jose Aldo requested a release from his UFC contract. Having made no secret of the fact that he feels he’s being treated unfairly, the Brazilian has set his sights on greener pastures – perhaps even in another sport. Not long after Aldo’s surprising request, streaking female bantamweight Julianna Peña suggested that she too was interested in leaving the UFC. She made this statement shortly after it was announced that former champion Ronda Rousey would be jumping the contendership line for a UFC 207 title fight with Amanda Nunes.

Earlier this year, in the main event of UFC 201, Tyron Woodley smashed Robbie Lawler to win the UFC welterweight title. Shortly after this massive win, it came time for the new champ to set his sights on his first defense. From a rankings standpoint, there could be no other option for that first defense than the streaking Stephen Thompson. When Thompson’s name came up, however, Woodley made no secret of the fact that this prospective fight didn’t really interest him.

The callouts of WWE veteran CM Punk began just moments after it was announced that he had signed with the UFC. It seemed that half the UFC roster was interested in welcoming the inexperienced 37-year-old to the Octagon, all well-aware of the effect a win over a superstar of his caliber would have on their careers. In the end, of course, the task of welcoming Punk to the Octagon would go to 24-year-old prospect Mickey Gall, who mugged the pro wrestler on the main card of September’s UFC 203. Yet even after Punk’s disastrous UFC debut, the callouts have continued. Though it’s not even known if he’ll be given a second opportunity in the UFC, he still remains high on a number of wish lists.

Earlier this year, in the main event of UFC 199, Michael Bisping shocked the world by scoring a beautiful, first-round knockout over middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. Earlier this month, the Brit defended the middleweight title he stole from Rockhold with a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over a former foil in Dan Henderson. Unexpected as it is, Michael Bisping’s reign as middleweight king continues to trundle along. Bisping’s road to this career high, however, was not an easy one. The Brit experienced plenty of ups and downs between his victory on season 3 of The Ultimate Fighter and his title-winning upset of Rockhold.

UFC welterweight contender Demian Maia is on one hell of a streak. Since losing back-to-back decisions to Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald in late 2013 and early 2014, he’s embarked on a run of six-straight wins. Were it not for the seven-fight streak of Stephen Thompson, this recent success would have almost certainly earned him a UFC welterweight title shot by now. His streak, after all, is not just long. It was also constructed against top-shelf competition. It began with a win over talented Russian Alexander Yakovlev. Next up was a decision defeat of Ryan LaFlare, who entered the bout with an undefeated record.

According to a new report from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer (via Forbes) the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will look like a completely different company come the new year (2017). “Joe Silva and Dave Sholler are the big names to go so far, but they won’t be the last. WME-IMG want to bring in their own people. I’ve been told that by January it will be a very, very different company. A lot of people behind the scenes are worried about their future or looking elsewhere.”

UFC 205, which marks the Octagon’s long-awaited debut in New York City, New York, is arguably the finest fight card ever assembled by the organization. Much of its strength can be attributed to the three title fights that sit atop the pay-per-view. The biggest of these title fights, of course, is the main event, which will see featherweight champion Conor McGregor challenge lightweight king Eddie Alvarez in an effort to become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two belts in tandem.

The Brazilian standout recently requested his release from the promotion and went as far as to say that he would be willing to take a dive in his next fight if the UFC did not grant him his wish.

McGregor has remained tight-lipped about the announcement and recently told MMAJunkie that he will not be spilling the beans until his business with Eddie Alvarez is finished on November 12:

Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz had plenty of highly-publicized run-ins in the buildup to their UFC 202 rematch. The most high-profile of these, however, was their infamous bottle-throwing showdown at one of the event’s pre-fight press conferences. The incident began when McGregor showed up late to the press event. Evidently irritated by the Irishman’s tardiness, Diaz and his team then stormed out of the building, throwing water bottles McGregor’s way as they did. McGregor, who never shies away from an on-camera conflict, then returned fire, pelting his adversaries with water bottles of his own, and an energy drink can. This wild shoot-out, unsurprisngly, drove the fans into a frenzy, and increased the hype for UFC 202 by an exponential factor. The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), however,  was not pleased about the ordeal. In fact, they were livid.
