On Saturday night, the UFC touched down in sunny Sao Paolo Brazil with UFC Fight Night 100. Over the course of the 12-fight card, we witnessed a handful of truly impressive performances. One of the most applause-worthy of the bunch was Kamaru Usman’s three-round domination of the highly regarded Warlley Alves. Relying not just on his incredible grappling skill, but also on a vastly-improved standup game, Usman dominated his Brazilian foe from bell-to-bell, earning himself a sound, unanimous decision win as a result. These days, fighters are often criticized for their reluctance to take advantage of the opportunity to issue callouts in the wake of big wins. This was not a problem for Usman. After a brief discussion of his performance with Octagon-side commentator Jon Anik, Usman attempted to earn himself a big step up in competition with a callout of the welterweight division’s third-ranked fighter, grappling wizard Demian Maia. Not only did he assure he could defeat Maia, he also promised that he’d stop him in the first round.

On Saturday (November 19), MMA fans were treated to a rare double-header from the UFC, as the promotion hosted cards in both Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Between the two cards, we saw a whopping 50 fighters compete across 25 fights. At the moment, fighter purses for these two exciting events are not known. We do, however, know how much each fighter received for wearing Reebok as part of the UFC’s oft-criticized Athlete Outfitting program.

Last night, the UFC touched down in sunny Sao Paulo, Brazil with its 100th Fight Night card. While the card lacked any real back-and-forth wars (Bellator had us covered in that regard) it did produce some fantastic finishes. As such, the UFC elected not to dish out a Fight of the Night bonus, and award two extra Performance of the Night bonuses instead.

A light heavyweight rematch between Ryan Bader and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira served as the main event of tonight’s historic UFC Fight Night 100 card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Round one begins and Bader lands a leg kick to start. He lands another. He attempts to go upstairs with a high kick but it is blocked. Bader leaps in with an overhand right but it misses. Ryan lands a hard jab. Nogueira scores with a counter left. Lil Nog presses forward. Bader circles away and paws with a jab. He lunges forward with a right but it misses. Nogueira tags Bader with a left and Ryan shoots in and scores a big takedown. Bader working from half guard. He lands some good shots from the top. Bader switches from lefts to rights and begins raining down some massive shots. Lil Nog is in all sorts of trouble here. A massive elbow lands for Bader. He is just dropping bombs now. Nogueira is still defending but is busted up bad. Bader traps Nog’s right arm. Antonio gets it free. Bader moves to side control. Round one comes to an end.

A key bantamweight tilt between Thomas Almeida and Albert Morales served as the co-main event bout of tonight’s historic UFC Fight Night 100 card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Round one begins and Almeida lands a counter elbow to start. He scores with a follow up left hand and then lands a nice leg kick. Morales with a front kick to the body that lands. Thomas misses with a wild right and gets countered by a Morales strike. Almeida presses forward here. He eats a nice left from Morales. Albert presses forward and lands a nice punch. He is pressing forward now. Almeida with a right hand. He presses forward with a wild combo that misses. Morales misses with a right. Almeida connects with a leg kick and then a jab. He eats a counter from Morales. Almeida cracks him with a right hand and then another. Morales is in trouble and so he shoots. Morales gets the takedown and then transitions to the back of Almeida. Morales is looking for a rear-naked choke. He can’t get it and Almeida breaks free. Both men start swinging wildy and both connect with big shots. This fight is crazy. Round one comes to an end.

A women’s bantamweight bout between former title challenger Claudia Gadelha and Cortney Casey took place during tonight’s UFC Fight Night 100 main card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Round one begins and Claudia lands a big right hand to start. Gadelha ducks under a right hand of Casey and scores a huge double leg takedown. Casey lands a couple of nice up-kicks but Claudia jumps back in to her guard. Good shots from Caludia. Casey battles back to her feet but eats a combination. More good shots from Claudia. She is landing counters every time that Casey comes forward. Another big takedown from Claudia. Casey stands back up. Round one comes to an end.

A welterweight scrap between Warlley Alves and Kamaru Usman took place on tonight’s UFC Fight Night 100 main card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Round one begins and Usman presses forward and lands a nice left jab. Alves circles and lands a nice counter right hand. He follows that up with a leg kick. Alves with a jab and then he circles away. Usman presses forward and pins Alves up against the cage. Kamaru with a right hand. Alves eats it and circles out. Usman goes to the body with a jab. Alves continues to utilize movement but gets caught with a right. He takes the punch and then charges forward with a kick. Usman presses forward and lands a combination. Alves returns fire with a counter right that lands. Kamaru with a nice stiff jab. Warley responds with a counter left. Usman goes to the body with a jab. Alves returns fire with a leg kick. Usman presses him against the cage and throws a flurry. Alves circles out and lands a body kick. Warley with a nice jab. He lands a knee and then misses with a spinning high kick. That upsets Usman who charges forward with strikes. Round one comes to a close.

A welterweight bout between Sergio Moraes and Zak Ottow kicked off tonight’s UFC Fight Night 100 main card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Round one begins and Sergio circles and then misses with a head kick. Zak tries to shoot inside for a takedown attempt but it is not there. Moraes lands a kick to the body and then attempts a spinning back fist that misses the mark. Moraes shoots in and scores a single leg takedown. He begins working from the full guard of Ottow. Zak throws some short shots from his back. Moraes postures up and lands a strike. He moves Zak up against the cage and lands some short shots to the body. Moraes moves to half guard. He looks to isolate an arm but then transitions for some strikes. Ottow is ableot fight his was back to full guard and then lands a nice elbow from the bottom. Not much action here and round one comes to an end with Sergio in top position.

Kevin Ferguson Jr. made his Bellator debut against Aaron Hamilton at tonight’s Bellator 165 event in San Jose, California. ‘Baby Slice’ showed off some good striking and solid power in the early stages of the contest.

‘UFC Fight Night 99’ in Belfast, Northern Ireland, delivered some memorable fights and solid finishes. With that said, four “Performance of the night” awards were handed out at today’s post fight press conference.

Former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre’s ongoing dispute with the UFC has been an extremely long one with many unanticipated bumps in the road. While St-Pierre has maintained that he is ready to once again return to the Octagon, and end his 3-year hiatus, he and the UFC have been unable to reach a deal that would see ‘Rush’ return to action. Several months ago, all signs pointed to St-Pierre returning to the Octagon at UFC 206 in Toronto to fight Michael Bisping for the middleweight championship on December 10th. While both men agreed to the bout, one major hangup stood in the way, St-Pierre’s sponsorship with Under Armour.

This afternoon, in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night: Belfast’, top ranked UFC middleweight Gegard Mousasi stepped into the Octagon against Uriah Hall for a highly anticipated rematch of their 2015 scrap. In 2015, when the pair stepped into the Octagon, Hall delivered a spectacular TKO win as he landed a back kick on Mousasi that ultimately resulted in a TKO win.

A middleweight rematch between Gegard Mousasi and Uriah Hall served as the main event of today’s UFC Fight Night 99 fight card in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Round one begins and Hall misses with a high kick to start. Mousasi lands a low kick and Hall returns fire with one of his own. Another leg kick from Hall. Mousasi presses forward and Hall misses with a wild spinning kick. Gegard with a nice jab. Hall lands a hard low kick that stops Mousasi in his tracks. Gegard responds with a good leg kick of his own. He lands a huge jab on Hall. Hall launches a spinning head kick and it partially lands. Uriah follows that up with a hard leg kick. Mousasi misses with an attempted combination. Another good leg kick scores for Hall. Gegard charges forward but misses with a right hand. Hall with another low kick and then ducks under and moves away from a Mousasi counter. Gegard misses with a jab and then eats a pair of low kicks. Hall goes upstairs with a high kick that misses. Gegard charges forward and shoots for a takedown. He presses Uriah against the cage and drags him to the floor. He begins working some short right hands and a few knees to the body. Big shots from Mousasi from the top and this one is over!

A heavyweight tilt between Timothy Johnson and Alexander Volkov took place on today’s UFC Fight Night 99 main card in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Round one begins and Volkov immediately presses forward and lands a right. Johnson circles away but Alexander quickly follows up and throws a knee to the body. Volkov presses forward with a combination that lands. He presses Timothy against the cage and begins working some big uppercuts inside. Johnson grabs a hold of an arm and looks for a kimura. The fighters break from the cage and Johnson lands a massive uppercut that drops Alexander. Timothy rushes in with some ground and pound a Volkov is in all sorts of trouble. Alexander is surviving here but eating some big shots from Johnson. Tim is working from full guard now. Volkov is able to wall-walk and get back to his feet. He presses Johnson against the fence and works some short shots. Round one comes to an end.

A featherweight bout between Artem Lobov and Teruto Ishihara kicked off today’s UFC Fight Night 99 main card in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Round one begins and Ishihara misses with a high kick to start. Teruto follows that up with a body kick that grazes Lobov. Artem is applying the forward pressure here. He misses with a wild right hand and then eats a low kick. Ishihara with a jab to the body that lands. He follows that up with back-to-back leg kicks. Lobov misses with a left hook. Teruto with another low kick that lands. Lobov continues with the forward pressure and lands a left hand. Teruto circles away. The Japanese fighter misses with a body kick. Lobov lands a right hand and then stuffs a takedown attempt from Teruto. Lobov lands a right hand and then another. Ishihara fires back with a low kick. Artem presses forward and misses with a left hook. Teruto with a jab that misses upstairs but he lands a follow up strike to the body. Artem responds with a jab. He lands a leg kick. Teruto fires back with a leg kick of his own. Artem charges forward and lands a right. Teruto responds with another leg kick. Artem presses forward and lands a big right. Lobov with a left and Teruto looks hurt. He lands a big body kick and round one comes to an end.
