This just in! Former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre has reportedly officially signed his new contract with the UFC. This news that Georges St-Pierre returns comes on the heels of reports surfacing earlier in the week that St-Pierre and the promotion were in the process of finalizing a multi-fight contract which the terms of had already been agreed upon.
Travis Browne fires back at "ignorant" Derrick Lewis

Ahead of their scheduled ‘UFC Fight Night: Halifax’ scrap Sunday night, heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne have continued to increase the amount of trash talk they are doing. Lewis lobbed a rather personal shot at Browne ahead of the scrap as he made reference to Browne’s alleged domestic violence incident, which Lewis believes Browne is guilty of. That didn’t sit too well with ‘Haps’ who fired back in an interview with MMAJunkie, saying:

Sunday in Halifax, streaking UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis will step into the Octagon with Travis Browne, who will be looking to bounce back from his current 2-fight skid. After controversially defeating Matt Mitrione in early January in a fight which saw Mitrione sustain one of the worst eye injuries in the history of MMA. Following that, Browne dropped a UFC 200 TKO loss to Cain Velasquez, which was followed by a unanimous decision loss to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 203.

Last weekend, in the co-main event of UFC 208, former middleweight champion and bona fide MMA legend Anderson Silva took on dangerous middleweight contender Derek Brunson. Despite the propensity for violent finishes shared by both men, this fight ended up being a slow one, as Brunson was hesitant to wade in on the venomous counter-striker Silva, and Silva waited for counter-punching opportunities that were almost non-existent. In the end, Silva would leave this fight with a unanimous decision win – though many fans and pundits felt the decision should have gone the other way. In the opinion of UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping, however, it doesn’t matter that Silva won, as the fashion in which he won could ultimately damage is incredible legacy.

Last month, a frustrated Gegard Mousasi put the majority of the UFC middleweight division on blast, criticizing its elite players for not accepting a fight with him. One fighter who took a hit in the Dutchman’s scathing rant was Australian contender Robert Whittaker, who has been enjoying a bit of time off with family in the first months of the new year. Apparently, Mousasi isn’t impressed by the Australian’s hiatus. “[Robert] Whittaker wants to go on holiday for seven months,” Mousasi told FOX Sports back in January. “I don’t know what he’s up to. I’m looking for a fight.”

Anderson Silva picked up his first official win in over four years last weekend at UFC 208. However, the fight did not go without some controversy. Silva was awarded a unanimous decision over Derek Brunson in the co-main event of the evening that many people had Brunson winning on their personal scorecards. Brunson also took to social media where he broke down the entire fight and gave his reasoning on why he believes he decisively won the fight.

Throughout the course of the past year, talks have continued to arise regarding the potential return of former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre. Negotiations between GSP and the UFC were reportedly going well in late 2016, however due to his personal deal with Under Arumor, and the UFC’s conflicting deal with Reebok, St-Pierre never returned to the Octagon. This of course ended talks of a potential GSP vs. Michael Bisping superfight, and fight fans have been left without an update since.

Jeff Sherman, the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook Manager tweeted that the Westgate Resort and Casino in Las Vegas in now accepting bets for the fight that has not yet been made official.

In just three months, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor’s girlfriend Dee Devlin will give birth to their firstborn child. With that being said, the champ has been very open about his concerns with bringing a child into his often hectic life as a global superstar. Following his UFC 205 win over Eddie Alvarez, where McGregor picked up a 2nd round TKO win to claim the UFC lightweight championship, the champ revealed that his girlfriend was pregnant, and would be giving birth to their son in May. McGregor explained why he would be taking time away from the Octagon, and why he was worried about how fame would play a role in fatherhood, saying:

Throughout the course of 2017, conflicting reports have continued to emerge that UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has reached a deal for a Floyd Mayweather superfight in the boxing ring. To kick off the year, Mayweather offered McGregor $15 million for a boxing match, which resulted in UFC President Dana White firing back with a counteroffer, stating that he would be willing to give Mayweather $25 million for a boxing match. Mayweather of course laughed at White’s offer, and called the UFC President a comedian. This was following by a pay-per view interview from McGregor, where the lightweight champ stated that he and Mayweather needed to sit down in a room and negotiate terms for a fight. Just weeks following McGregor’s interview, reports surfaced that Mayweather and McGregor had reportedly reached a deal.
