UFC 209's Andre Soukhamthath updates on the Blackzilians: The team kind of split

This weekend, the UFC will return to glimmering Las Vegas, Nevada with UFC 209. The card is stacked to the rim with top UFC talent, featuring names like Tyron Woodley, Stephen Thompson, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, Alistair Overeem and Mark Hunt. Long before any of these established superstars step into the cage, however, Rhode Island’s Andre Soukhamthath will make his UFC debut against Albert Morales. The former CES bantamweight champion, Soukhamthath has done much of his recent training with the Blackzilians in South Florida. Regrettably, the Blackzilians camp has been enduring a rather public split, as inner conflict has caused the team to splinter.
Eddie Bravo on UFC 209 co-main event: don’t be surprised if Khabib can’t take Tony down

This weekend, 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu founder Eddie Bravo will watch one of his star pupils vie for UFC gold. That pupil is Tony Ferguson, who battles Dagestan’s Khabib Nurmagomedov for the interim lightweight title in the co-main event of Saturday night’s UFC 209. As one of Ferguson’s coaches and cornermen, Bravo’s allegiance heading into this anticipated lightweight showdown is obvious. Objectively, however, the Jiu-Jitsu icon finds this matchup absolutely fascinating.
Dana White responds to Tyron Woodley calling him a "drama queen"

Recently, UFC President Dana White and UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley have continued to trade verbal blows in various interviews following controversial comments made by Woodley in regards to how he feels his race plays a role in popularity in MMA. Dana White wasn’t too pleased with Woodley’s comments, which resulted in the UFC President calling Woodley a “drama queen” in a recent interview. This then led to Woodley responding on this week’s edition of The MMA Hour, in which he stated:

Odds released for Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre

On Wednesday, UFC President Dana White announced on TSN that Michael Bisping will defend his belt against former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre. It will be St-Pierre’s first fight in the UFC since stepping away from the sport in 2013 and will be the first fight for the former champion outside of the UFC 170-pound welterweight division.

Throughout the course of 2017, reports have continued to surface regarding new developments in negotiations for a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather superfight. Along with the updates regarding the potential scrap, have come predictions for the fight. While most believe that in a boxing match, McGregor won’t be able to compete with Mayweather, famed boxing trainer Freddie Roach recently stated that McGregor’s power and youth could very well make this an interesting fight. MMA community reacts to Georges St-Pierre vs. Michael Bisping booking

Earlier this month, we learned that former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre had finally worked out his differences with the UFC and agreed to the terms of a new contract. This implied an imminent comeback for the Canadian MMA legend. The details of St-Pierre’s comeback fight, however, remained fairly nebulous. We did not know when, where or against whom he would be fighting. As of this morning, that is no longer the case. While the date and location of St-Pierre’s anticipated comeback fight is still a mystery, we do know who the welterweight great will fight in his return. He’ll be taking on Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title. This fight was announced by UFC President Dana White on ESPN.

UFC files to have Mark Hunt's lawsuit thrown out in court

The UFC is looking to have Mark Hunt’s lawsuit against the company and UFC President Dana White thrown out in court. Following the announcement of Brock Lesnar’s failed USADA drug test, Hunt made it known that he wanted to be compensated for fighting another cheating opponent in his UFC career. Hunt first asked for half of Lesnar’s fight purse then changed his mind to demanding Lesnar’s entire fight purse that he received for his fight against Hunt at UFC 200. The UFC did not come through with Hunt’s financial demands and filed a lawsuit against the UFC, Dana White and Brock Lesnar.

He’s back!!! Former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre will return to the Octagon to fight Michael Bisping in 2017 according to UFC President Dana White, who broke the news on ESPN. While White announced that the fight would be taking place in 2017, he also revealed that that fight had not been set for an event at the present time.

Diego Sanchez, who is one of the most experienced veterans in the UFC today, has typically fought under the nickname “The Nightmare.” Apparently, however, that is no longer the case. Several days ago, The Ultimate Fighter season one veteran took to Instagram to announce that he was changing his nickname from The Nightmare to “Lionheart.”

This weekend, the UFC will return to Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena with UFC 209. The card is an undeniably stacked one. In the main event, we’ll see UFC welterweight king Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley take on challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in a rematch of their thrilling November draw. In the co-main event, we’ll be treated to an interim lightweight title fight between undefeated Dagestani grappler Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov and the streaking Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson. Elsewhere on the main card, we’ll witness a heavyweight rematch between decorated strikers Mark Hunt and Alistair Overeem, a lightweight scrap between Lando Vannata and David Teymur, and the middleweight debut of former light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans, who takes on Australia’s Dan Kelly.

When Jorge Masvidal stepped onto the canvas with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in January, he was counted out by a good portion of the fight game. Cowboy, after all, had scored violent finishes in his first four fights as a welterweight, and had a good deal of momentum on his side as a result. In the end, Masvidal would dominate this fight, nearly finishing Cowboy in the first, and putting him away for good in the second.
Demian Maia vs. Jorge Masvidal set for UFC 211

News broke Tuesday afternoon at Jorge Masvidal vs. Demian Maia would be taking place at UFC 211 in May. The news came after a period of uncertainty following reports earlier in the week that Masvidal and Maia would be fighting in Nashville in April according to MMAJunkie. No word on whether the fight will take place on the preliminary card or pay-per view portion of the UFC 211 card, however given the magnitude of the scrap, fight fans can expect the fight to be placed on the main card.
