Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor returning to UFC would not surprise a Hall of Famer/ ex-Diaz foe

Nate Diaz is returning to competing in MMA under a different banner than he is accustomed to, but one of his former UFC opponents thinks a future return to the powerhouse promotion is still on the table. Clay Guida is the fighter in question, and within his deep resume, ‘The Carpenter’ previously secured a win over Nate Diaz on points at UFC 94.
With Diaz preparing to fight Mike Perry at the inaugural MVP MMA card on Netflix, when asked if Diaz could still fight in the UFC someday in a long-awaited rubber match with Conor McGregor, Guida said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“In today’s day and age, no, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him come back and do one more fight in the UFC. Same thing can be said for McGregor to do one more. I think that would really fulfill those guys, maybe close a chapter on their career. Not fulfill because those guys have done everything. Nate just short of, like myself, just short of coming up with UFC gold. But Nate’s done everything else. He’s fought for the title a couple times now. He’s fought everybody. [UFC] Hall of Famer as well, I would imagine.”
Nate Diaz’s possible UFC return someday would bring “some closure for the fans”, per Guida
Further expounding upon his thoughts regarding if the pride of Stockton may ever return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship and have a tiebreaker bout with ‘The Notorious’, Guida continued [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“But yeah, I think some closure for the fans, for both of those guys. I would love to see them either run it back one more time. Let’s see those guys beat each other up one more time for the lovers, for the haters, for the fans, whatever it is. Or see those guys fight somebody else for one more fight because there’s always going to be that question. Where they’re still able-bodied, where they’re still training, hopefully, where they’re still involved in the sport, man.”
“One more fight would be awesome. As a fan, I love watching those guys fight. Would I like to fight both of them? Absolutely. I’ll fight them both in the same night if I had the chance to, man. That would be amazing. But as a fan, yes, those guys are top tier entertainment all the time. I would tune in to both of them to see them fight each other or to see them fight other opponents as well.”
