Mike Perry vs. Nate Diaz “was as entertaining as any fight I’ve watched”, per Bryan Battle

Mike Perry put on quite the showcase against Nate Diaz last month, and someone who has fought for Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship promotion weighed in with his thoughts on the bout. The referenced fighter is Bryan Battle, who fought for DBX after leaving the UFC and nowadays plies his trade with the PFL. Battle has a looming main event coming up against Dalton Rosta at PFL Charlotte in August as part of the PFL Summer Series.
Perry would end up halting Diaz inside the distance via cuts, with the bout being waved off in the second stanza. In a prior interview with Battle on Bowks Talking Bouts, he mentioned that leading into the Perry vs. Diaz bout that the matchup was “like a love letter to MMA fans.” When asked for his follow up thoughts on how that Netflix MVP MMA fight ultimately played out, Battle said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Man, it’s the only thing and it’s just that’s always the risk of a Nate Diaz fight is that it ends early because of cuts. You know what I’m saying? Like it was still a really fun fight. You know what I’m saying? I mean, obviously like Nate’s older, Mike has been doing different [things]. He’s done regular boxing, bare knuckle, so it’s; I think it’s been a while since; that was like the first time [Diaz] did an MMA fight in like years, wasn’t it?”
“So, like it wasn’t some technical master class, but it was as entertaining as any fight I’ve watched. You know what I’m saying? Mike is just vicious. Nate is just Nate. You know what I’m saying? So it would still; I think that was the perfect [fight]. Netflix booked the perfect fight to be on their first ever MMA card. You know what I mean?”
Mike Perry calls out a former BMF champ after finishing Nate Diaz
Mike Perry is now putting his attentions toward the man who bested Nate Diaz in the inaugural BMF title bout. ‘Platinum’ has indicated his desire to fight Jorge Masvidal, which Perry has both mentioned via his personal social media as well as during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show.
Perry specifically mentioned bare knuckle as the rule set for a hypothetical fight with ‘Gamebred’. If that came to fruition, it would undoubtedly result in the biggest fight in BKFC history.
