Michael Page plans to send a message to the welterweight division at UFC London: ‘I’m still that guy’

Michael Page wants to prove he’s still a dangerous fighter at UFC London.
Page is set to take on Sam Patterson on the main card of UFC London in what should be a fun fight at welterweight. Heading into the bout, Page is a -180 favorite, while the fellow Brit is a +140 underdog on FanDuel.
Although Page is fighting someone unranked and not as big a name as he’s used to, he knows Patterson will be a tough fight. The two have trained together in the past, but Page has full confidence that he will be able to have success in his return to the welterweight division after back-to-back fights at middleweight.
“I think every single time I get in the cage, it’s a reminder of what I’m capable of,” Page said to UFC News. “As you say, in terms of going back to the welterweight division, it’s just to remind everybody there that I’m still that guy, still dangerous.”
Page knows he was brought into the UFC for his flashy style and finishes, which he’s hoping to accomplish at UFC London on Saturday.
Michael Page is looking for a statement finish at UFC London
Although Page has gotten some impressive wins, he knows the UFC and the fans have expected him to get highlight-reel wins. So, ‘Venom’ hopes he can accomplish that against Patterson to really show how big a star he can be.
“In my head, I feel like that’s the only thing they feel like they haven’t gotten from me yet,” Page said about getting a highlight-reel finish that he’s used to. “I’m entertaining when I go out there. I’ve had some good wins, but I haven’t had the finish I’m known for. When they approached me to join the UFC, it was because they wanted those explosive wins.”
Michael Page enters the bout with a record of 24-3 and is coming off back-to-back decision wins over Jared Cannonier and Shara Magomedov. He’s 3-1 in the UFC, with his lone loss coming by decision to Ian Machado Garry, while he beat Kevin Holland by decision in his debut.
