Michael Bisping gushes over ‘phenomenal’ rising star following UFC OKC: “That man is going to be a huge star”

Michael Bisping has lauded the performance of an undefeated prospect from this past Saturday’s UFC OKC show.

In the opening main card bout of UFC’s most recent “Fight Night” event, Tommy McMillen went one-on-one with Alberto Montes. McMillen is a Contender Series alum who has been known to finish fights. He delivered the goods once again in his second outing under the UFC banner. “Gun” scored a third-round TKO finish over Montes, and he nabbed a bonus for his efforts.

In a post-fight reaction video on his YouTube channel, Bisping predicted that the 28-year-old McMillen is destined to become a breakout star (h/t MMAJunkie).

“Tommy ‘Gun’ McMillen, this guy won in the third round but in sensational fashion against Alberto Montes,” Bisping said. “I mean, holy sh*t. Tommy McMillen, the man just doesn’t stop. He was phenomenal. He just went out there, from start to finish, just like his last fight where he was given a $100,000 bonus.

“Tommy McMillen is the man. Holy sh*t, I’m telling you that man is going to be a huge star. He talks a lot of sh*t. He was saying he’s about that life and he kind of is because he just went forward swinging like an absolute maniac – took a few shots, but didn’t give a sh*t, and then gets the stoppage in the third round. The crowd was going insane.”

McMillen has gotten off to a hot start in his pro MMA career with a record of 11-0. Only one of his fights has gone the distance, which was his lone Contender Series bout against David Mgoyan, who recently competed on the MVP MMA 1 card.

McMillen’s continued rise in the featherweight division will surely be monitored by fans and pundits. Whether or not he can live up to expectations as the competition gets tougher remains to be seen.
