UFC Freedom 250 Results: Josh Hokit TKO’s Derrick Lewis (Video)

Tonight’s UFC Freedom 250 event features a highly anticipated heavyweight contest featuring Derrick Lewis taking on Josh Hokit.

Lewis (29-14 MMA) will enter the contest looking to rebound this after suffering a second-round TKO loss to Waldo Cortes-Acosta this past January at UFC 324. Prior to that defeat, ‘The Black Beast’ was coming off a first-round TKO victory over Tallison Teixeira.

Meanwhile, Josh Hokit (10-0 MMA) will be returning to the Octagon for the first time since his thrilling war with Curtis Blaydes this past April in Miami. The brash American won that contest via unanimous decision. Prior to that triumph, Hokit was coming off back-to-back first-round TKO victories over Max Gimenis and Denzel Freeman.

Round one of this UFC Freedom 250 heavyweight contest begins and Derrick Lewis feints with a left hook. Josh Hokit with a low kick. And another. He attempts a spinning kick that misses by a mile. Another spin and Hokit slips and falls. Lewis with a right hand that hits the shoulder. Hokit with a right over the top. ‘The Black Beast’ with a punch up the middle. Josh shoots in and scores a takedown. He begins working from full guard. Good ground and pound for Josh Hokit. A nice elbow. And another. Derrick Lewis looks to wall walk. Hokit trips him and regains top position. Another elbow and now Lewis is bleeding. Lewis attempts to scramble. Hokit locks up an armbar. This is tight. 20 seconds remain. Josh should adjust but doesn’t. Lewis survives to see round two.

Round two of this UFC Freedom 250 heavyweight clash begins and Josh Hokit opens with a pair of jabs. Derrick Lewis with a kick in return. Hokit with a single leg attempt. Lewis stuffs it and then unloads some good uppercuts. Hokit gets back to range. He lands a jab. The crowd chants ‘Lewis’ in hopes of getting ‘The Black Beast’ fired up. Josh Hokit with a takedown attempt. Derrick Lewis stuffs it. Four punches from the undefeated up and comer. Lewis looks gassed already. He’s getting pieced up. Another nice 1-2 from Hokit. ‘The Hulk’ forces the clinch and lands a big elbow. He’s smiling at Lewis now. Derrick looks terrible. Completely gassed out. A big combination from Hokit. This one is close to over. Lewis goes down and Hokit stops him with ground and pound. Yeesh.
